Job Description
Creative Content Specialist
39 North Marketing \| Remote-Friendly \| Part-Time
About 39 North Marketing
39 North Marketing helps local and regional brands — including community publications like The SEI Times — build a digital presence that actually sounds like a person wrote it. We're growing our content team and looking for someone who can take our clients' newsletters, websites, and social channels from formal and forgettable to entertaining, engaging, and worth sharing.
About the Role
We're looking for a Creative Content Specialist to help reinvent how our clients show up online. This role is about content creation, not just copywriting: you'll bring an energetic, humanized voice to emails, social posts, and web copy that have historically read as stiff or overly formal. The bar for everything you create is simple — is it entertaining, engaging, attention-grabbing, scroll-stopping, and worth sharing? You'll work across multiple channels — including The SEI Times, client newsletters, website updates, and social media — and be just as comfortable behind a camera or design tool as you are behind a keyboard.
What You'll Do
Creative Writing \& Strategy
- Draft fun, engaging emails and social posts that feel human, not corporate
- Pitch story ideas and content angles that fit each client's voice and audience
- Move projects from idea to finished copy on schedule, with minimal hand-holding
Visual Content
- Assist with the visual presentation of content, including simple illustrations or graphics for newsletters and social posts
- Pair copy with visuals that make content more shareable and scroll-stopping
Website Maintenance
- Update and edit website content so it stays current, accurate, and on-brand
- Clean up copy that reads as stiff, dated, or overly "extracted"
Platform Engagement
- Apply knowledge of hooks, trends, and captions to drive engagement across platforms
- Keep a pulse on what's working on social so content stays fresh, entertaining, and share-worthy — never formulaic
What We're Looking For
- Abundant energy and enthusiasm — someone who brings warmth and personality to service-based brands
- Mature and responsible: you hit deadlines and manage your own workload
- Comfortable pitching stories, writing engaging copy, and editing web content
- A knack for hooks, trends, and captions that actually drive engagement
- An instinct for what's entertaining, attention-grabbing, and scroll-stopping — content people want to read and share, not formal, not "extracted"
Nice to Have
- Basic graphic design or illustration skills
- Experience writing for local media, community brands, or small businesses
- Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools
Details
- Hours: Part-time, schedule flexible based on workload
- Compensation: To be discussed based on experience
- Location: Remote-friendly
- Start date: As soon as possible
