Coder Specialist

Job Summary:

The position involves coding emergency room (ER) and/or outpatient records.

Job Responsibilities:

• Code ER and/or outpatient records.
• Work on CCI/medical necessity edits as needed.
• Monitor unbilled records for ER/outpatients to ensure all accounts are coded daily.
• Maintain quality equal to or greater than 95%.
• Maintain productivity equal to or greater than 95%.
• Complete continuing education as required.
• Exercise independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
• Engage with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
• Engage with external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff.

Required Skills \& Experience:

• Zero (0) to six (6) months of work experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Basic ICD 10 training and anatomy and physiology.
• Demonstrated PC and software proficiency.
• Ability to score 80% or above on the outpatient coding exam.

Required Education:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Certification from an accredited coding program and a score of 80% or above on the outpatient coding exam.

Shift Requirements:

• 2 years of orthopedic coding experience.
• Availability during working hours to communicate with the team.
• Proficiency in Excel for data entry.

Start Requirements:

• Experience with Epic.
