Job Description

About Sweetleaves

Sweetleaves is a design-forward cannabis retail, hemp, and cannabis CPG company based in Minneapolis. We bring cannabis into everyday life — helping people find balance, clarity, and a little more joy, without the stigma or the noise. We believe you’re not lazy, you’re living, and that belief shows up in everything we make, from our stores to our menus to the way we talk to our community.

Our world spans three brands: Sweetleaves Retail (North Loop and Minnetonka), Sweetleaves Edibles (hemp and cannabis), and our flower brand. This role touches all of them.

About the role

The Marketing Coordinator is the production engine behind how Sweetleaves shows up online, in-store, and digitally. It’s a content and design heavy role for someone who’s organized, creative, and comfortable owning several workstreams at once. We are looking for someone that is currently leveraging AI tools such as ChatGBT or Claude to produce and execute on campaigns.

You’ll partner closely with the founders, and our retail team to grow our audience, drive engagement, and keep the brand consistent across every owned, earned, and shared channel. If you like creating, campaigns, graphics, signage, emails and seeing them make direct impact, this role is for you.

What you’ll own

Content planning \& channel management

Create assets for all marketing channels: website, email, SMS, social, digital marketing, and in-store materials.

Build and maintain a monthly content calendar aligned to promotions, product launches, Garden Club milestones, and seasonal moments.

Deploy content across paid, owned, earned, and shared channels in coordination with the Head of Marketing.

Write captions and copy that sound unmistakably Sweetleaves on every platform.

Manage community across platforms — respond to reviews, comments, DMs, and tags promptly and on-brand.

Build and maintain the social presence and content library for the CPG brand.

Create and schedule content that reflects the brand’s distinct identity.

Support product launches, promotions, and partnerships specific to the brand.

Email \& SMS

Lead email and SMS campaigns end-to-end: generate topics, produce sends in outreach platform.

Build and deploy weekly emails, including copy, design, and reporting.

Manage list segmentation, lifecycle campaigns, and consumer data collection through surveys and website tools.

Support Loyalty program communications and visibility through social and in-store creative.

Design \& asset management

Create graphics, templates, signage, and branded materials.

Own the content library — organize and maintain photography, video, and design assets.

Keep menus consistent across digital and retail channels: product titles, descriptions, photos, dietary info, terpenes, and minor cannabinoids.

Retail \& vendor partnerships

Act as the liaison between Marketing and Retail, giving the store team direction on in-store needs, signage, and priorities.

Source in-store materials with vendors, including print, photography, and production partners.

Develop marketing materials for house brands.

Collaborate with brand partners on new product launches, aligning in-store presence with the content plan.

Local presence

Research community outreach opportunities across partner industries — food and beverage, lodging, wellness, and local events.

Maintain brand presence and engage on listings across Google My Business, Yelp, Leafly, and Weedmaps, including responding to all reviews.

What you bring

1–3 years in marketing, content, social media, or a related role — agency, retail, CPG, or hospitality experience is a plus.

Strong writing and copy skills, with an eye for tone and brand voice.

Hands-on design ability in Canva (or similar); comfort with photo and video basics.

Experience running email/SMS campaigns; familiarity with Alpine IQ or a comparable platform is a plus.

Highly organized and self-directed — you can juggle multiple workstreams and hit deadlines without dropping details.

Comfortable working across digital and in-store, and collaborating with retail teams and outside vendors.

A genuine interest in cannabis and a commitment to compliant, responsible marketing.

Must be 21\+ and able to meet any background-check requirements for Minnesota cannabis employment.
