Senior Formulation Chemist

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of innovative personal care formulations across skincare, haircare, and body care categories
• Independently design, formulate, and optimize stable, high-performance products from concept through scale-up
• Translate client or brand briefs into technically sound, commercially viable formulations
• Oversee lab batching, prototype development, and iterative testing processes
• Conduct and interpret stability, compatibility, and performance testing to ensure product robustness
• Lead scale-up activities and collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth tech transfer
• Troubleshoot formulation challenges and drive root-cause analysis for product performance issues
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, formulation records, and technical reports
• Stay current on raw materials, emerging technologies, and market trends in personal care innovation
• Mentor and support junior chemists and lab technicians as needed
• Collaborate cross-functionally with QA/QC, regulatory, and production teams to ensure compliance and product quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• 5\+ years of hands-on formulation experience in personal care product development
• Strong expertise in emulsions, surfactant systems, rheology, and ingredient functionality
• Proven experience taking products from concept through scale-up and commercialization
• Deep understanding of stability testing, formulation troubleshooting, and performance optimization
• Strong technical problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering market-ready formulations
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights
• Experience working in a fast-paced R\&D or contract manufacturing environment preferred
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Passion for innovation and staying ahead of industry trends in beauty and personal care
