Position Summary
The Thornwell Director of Information Technology oversees the agency’s technology infrastructure, security, and staff, ensuring systems are efficient and aligned with its strategic plan and business operations. This position manages day-to-day operations, budgets, vendor relationships, and IT teams while implementing strategic technology updates and security protocols across the agency.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintains the organizational Information Security Management System.
- Ensures that the appropriate hardware and software are available to accomplish the technical services plan for the agency.
- Serves as liaison between technology vendors and Thornwell and recommends additional technology services as needed.
- Conducts policy and compliance audits, which will include liaising with internal and external auditors.
- Builds risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training within the ministry.
- Implements standards from the guide from Council on Accreditation (COA), such as Technology and Information Management and Security of Information.
- Serves on the Leadership Team. The Leadership Team is responsible for supporting Thornwell’s vision, mission, and core values, as well as its current strategic plan. The Leadership Team is also responsible for collaborating with work groups, staff liaisons, and senior staff on key strategies, challenges, and needs to provide insight on training, engagement, retention, and programs that will add value to the ministry.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Working Conditions
The Director of Information Technology will need to be mobile and move between locations on campus.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or relevant/equivalent work experience in the related field. Three to five years of experience in information systems in a multi-location setting.
Necessary skills:
- Must be a self-starter and self-motivated
- Must be willing to learn or research the newest technology
- Must be willing to be hands-on
- Must be a creative problem solver when implementing solutions and new technology
- Must have patience and good demeanor with all staff
- Must be able to evaluate all technology requests and be able to suggest better and/or cost-effective solutions
