Job Description
1) Purpose of Role
Join and repair metal components per drawings and weld symbols so assemblies meet strength and visual standards. Set up and perform welding processes and inspections, adhering to safety and quality procedures.
2) Scope \& Decision Rights
Uses heat and hand-held welding equipment, following blueprints and technical drawings. Sets up and prepares metal components, performs welds with various techniques, inspects the quality of work, and maintains equipment while adhering to strict safety protocols.
3) Essential Duties and Standards
Owns: Weld prep, fit‑up, and welding per WPS \& ASME standards, Visual inspection and basic rework, and Weld tracking and documentation.
Supports: Material handling and fit‑up with other trades, and Equipment maintenance and consumable control.
Recommends/Prepares: Procedure or fixture improvements for quality/throughput.
Escalates: Nonconforming welds, safety concerns, or drawing conflicts.

5) Qualifications
- Proven experience as a pipe welder, preferably in mining, heavy industrial, or similar environments
- Welding certifications (AWS, ASME, or equivalent Required)
- Ability to pass site-specific weld tests (including X-ray or bend tests)
- Strong understanding of high-pressure and abrasive material piping systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding procedures
- Knowledge of mining safety standards (MSHA preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- OSHA 10 and First Aid
- Must have MSHA and Pipe Welder Certificate
