Role Description
Our successful charity runs pathways which focus on Preparation for Adulthood and Skills for Everyday Living to help young people with SEN and learning disabilities to progress to positive destinations, including Adult Social Care, Further Education, Supported Internships, Volunteering or Employment and gain confidence and social support, alongside nationally recognised qualifications. Green Corridor requires the skills of an educator experienced in SEND, FE and inclusion to oversee the Inclusion Work at Green Corridor. This work includes helping learners to reduce the barriers to learning through therapeutic support, Safeguarding work and advocacy with our Local Authority Partners. The Therapy team includes SALT, OT, Therapy Assistants, Counselling and Physiotherapy. It may also include other therapy as required by individual learners and specified on their EHCP. You will also expected to act as our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) overseeing the safeguarding of our learners. This will include chairing our internal safeguarding team and liaising with supported living, parents and external agencies such as LADO, Police and Social Services.

Essential-
- Working with young people/ adults with SEN
- Working with young people with learning difficulties
- Knowledge of EHCPs and the EHCP process, including leading annual review meetings
Qualifications
Essential-
- Achieved or working towards QTS/QTLS/ SENCo qualifications
- Level 3 or above in supporting people with SEN
- GCSE Grade C equivalent or above in English and Maths
- Appropriate Prevent and Safeguarding Training
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Proactive, self-motivated, can-do attitude
- Ability to innovate and think creatively
- Ability to obtain an Enhanced DBS clearance (child and adult workforce)
Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the Role
Member of Senior Leadership team
- To actively contribute to the Shared Leadership Team – including in the weekly meetings, regular away days, our Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
- To contribute to the whole strategic plan and direction for Green Corridor, including delivery of the inclusion policy and acting as DSL
- To present quarterly Inclusion and Safeguarding reports to the trustee board
- To convene and resource the Inclusion and Safeguarding Subcommittee of the board.
Safeguarding and Inclusion
- To implement Green Corridor’s inclusion policy and strategy,
- To assess and monitor inclusion needs, including indicators such as attendance or behaviour
- Training \& supporting staff to help learners reduce barriers as needed
- To set high expectations for all learners, particularly those facing particular barriers
- Safeguarding:
o To be the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
o Chair the weekly and other ad-hoc safeguarding meetings
o Review all safeguarding reports as logged on the digital systems
o Liaise with learners, parents and carers to ensure safeguarding of the learners
o Liaise with external agencies as appropriate including Local Authority Case officers, LADO, Police, Social Services and other statutory oversite bodies
- Liaise with families and advocate for learners internally and externally
- Ensure that all records are kept up to date on the Learner Management System
- Support the Head of Education in lesson observations and learning walks
Therapeutic Team
- To oversee the work of the SALT, OT, Counsellor, Physiotherapist and others ensuring clear and timely assessment of therapy needs in line with their EHCP (currently 4\.5 days/week)
- To line manage the 2 Therapy Assistants, convening weekly therapy meetings as needed.
- To work with the Therapists and Therapy Assistants to plan and run therapy interventions and individual sessions in line with assessed needs and EHCP specified work
- To oversee the planning and running of all learners’ Annual Review meetings, ensuring statutory deadlines are met and reports prepared on progress and needs as required.
- To chair the more complex annual review meetings where necessary for learners benefit.
- To Manage the Therapy budget ensuring best value for Green Corridor
- Act as primary contact for staff with questions about therapeutic approaches to teaching, behaviour and attendance
- Create and update individual positive behaviour support plans and contribute to ILP, Reviews and One Page Profiles
Admissions
- To work within the admissions process to assess our ability to meet therapeutic needs
- To cost and plan the meeting of the above needs
- To line manage the Quality Assurance Officer
Professional Development \& Other duties
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of national and local initiatives which may affect Green Corridor’s policies and practice, including the SEND Code of Practice, SEND reform etc.
- To participate in 30 hours CPD per year specific to the needs of learners and Green Corridor.
- To keep your own individual Professional Development Plan up to date.
The post holder will be required to undertake other appropriate activities related to achieving the organisations objectives, as determined by the CEO.
