The Planet Group has partnered with a Denver, CO are company to locate aSenior DevOps Engineer to help shape the future of a modern cloud platform supporting highly scalable software systems. This is an opportunity to influence engineering practices, drive platform strategy, and build the infrastructure that enables development teams to deliver software quickly, reliably, and at scale.
This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering. You'll partner closely with software engineers while designing cloud infrastructure, improving CI/CD pipelines, automating operational processes, and championing DevOps best practices across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and optimize cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and modern automation practices
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines that improve software delivery speed and reliability
- Improve platform observability through monitoring, logging, and performance insights
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and operational workflows
- Partner with engineering teams to improve developer productivity and deployment processes
- Lead technical initiatives focused on scalability, resiliency, disaster recovery, and platform reliability
- Mentor engineers while helping establish DevOps standards and best practices across multiple teams
- Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-powered development tools, to improve engineering efficiency
Required Skills and Experience
- 10\+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years focused on DevOps or Platform Engineering
- Deep expertise designing and supporting cloud infrastructure in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
- Production experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration
- Expertise building and supporting CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Python, Go, or similar languages for automation
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, VPCs, and firewalls
- Experience implementing monitoring, observability, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction
