Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Data Architect to design, build, and optimise our data infrastructure. You will define data standards, develop architectural frameworks, and ensure our data assets are scalable, secure, and aligned with business goals. Working closely with engineering, analytics, and product teams, you will be the key decision-maker on how data flows across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture \& Design

  • Design and maintain enterprise-wide data architecture, including data lakes, warehouses, and lakehouse patterns.
  • Define and enforce data modelling standards (dimensional, relational, and NoSQL approaches).
  • Evaluate and select appropriate platforms, tools, and technologies to meet business requirements.
  • Create reference architectures, blueprints, and technical documentation.

Data Governance \& Quality

  • Establish and champion data governance frameworks, policies, and data cataloguing practices.
  • Define data classification, lineage, and quality standards across all domains.
  • Partner with data stewards to ensure consistent data definitions and ownership.
  • Lead initiatives to improve data reliability, completeness, and accessibility.

Collaboration \& Leadership

  • Act as a technical authority and mentor for data engineers and analysts.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable architectural solutions.
  • Engage stakeholders across product, finance, operations, and technology.
  • Contribute to data strategy and roadmap planning at a senior level.

Essential

  • 5\+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a closely related role.
  • Strong proficiency in data modelling (dimensional, Data Vault, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms — AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Expertise with modern data stack tools (e.g. dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift).
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, streaming data, and batch processing.
  • Experience defining and implementing data governance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills — able to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Desirable

  • Experience with real-time or event-driven architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub).
  • Familiarity with data mesh or federated data ownership models.
  • Knowledge of data security, GDPR compliance, and access control frameworks.
  • Background in a regulated industry (finance, healthcare, or similar).
