Data Center Engineer (Frankfurt, Germany)

We’re supporting a leading colocation and data centre provider that delivers infrastructure and premium managed services for enterprise customers all across Europe.

Their Frankfurt facility is state-of-the-art, and they are looking to grow the technical operations team with a hands-on, versatile engineer who bridges both IT and facility domains.

You will join the Frankfurt Engineering \& Operations team and take responsibility for day-to-day technical and facility tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Rack, stack, cable, label, and commission servers, network, and storage systems
  • Deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain IT infrastructure: servers (Linux/Windows), hypervisors, storage, backup
  • Support network connectivity, patching, and fibre/copper cabling work
  • Work with facility / building systems (power, cooling, UPS, generators, fire, security) to maintain uptime and SLA compliance
  • Perform regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs
  • Coordinate with external vendors and sub-contractors (electrical, mechanical, HVAC)
  • Assist in planning and executing data centre expansions, migrations, or hardware refresh projects
  • Monitor metrics, raise alerts on anomalies, troubleshoot root causes
  • Document physical and logical infrastructure (rack layouts, cable charts, asset inventory)
  • Follow and improve operational procedures, safety protocols, and best practices
  • Occasionally respond to after-hours incidents and participate in on-call rotations

Requirements:

  • Several years’ hands-on experience in data centre, colocation, or mission-critical environments
  • A mix of IT hardware and facilities exposure (server management, cabling, power / cooling systems)
  • Basic networking knowledge (switching, VLANs, fibre optics, structured cabling)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude—comfortable working with power, UPS, A/C, cooling, etc.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure
  • Fluent in English \& German
  • Ability to lift, carry, and work in confined spaces and data hall environments
  • Willingness to be on-call and support occasional off-hour incidents
