Job Description

Datafruit is looking for a data engineer who builds data platforms that people can trust. If you want your work to shape how companies make decisions, and you care as much about a clean model as a working pipeline, we'd like to hear from you.

You'll work directly with clients across industries, turning messy source systems into well-modelled, tested, documented data that analysts and decision-makers can rely on. You think analytically, communicate clearly, and value accuracy, consistency and reliability. You enjoy solving hard problems with a team and share what you've learned, including what didn't work. When you commit to something, you deliver.

What you'll do:

  • Design and build data pipelines and warehouses for client projects, from source ingestion to analytics-ready marts
  • Develop dimensional models (facts, conformed dimensions, slowly changing dimensions) that stay correct as the business changes
  • Build and maintain dbt projects following our layered standards (staging → intermediate → marts), with testing and documentation built in
  • Prototype data solutions quickly and turn the good ones into production
  • Monitor, optimise and troubleshoot data pipelines and analytics solutions
  • Work closely with our BI and visualisation team so the data serves real reporting needs

You'll fit well if you have:

  • Hands-on experience as a data engineer or developer, ideally in a client-facing or consulting role
  • Strong SQL and solid understanding of dimensional modelling (Kimball or similar)
  • Experience with dbt or comparable transformation tools, or with ETL tools such as SSIS or ODI and a willingness to move toward modern practices
  • Working knowledge of Python
  • Familiarity with Git and code-review-based workflows
  • Experience with at least one database or warehouse platform (e.g. PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks)
  • Independence: you can lead projects and own your work end to end
  • A genuine desire to learn, develop and share knowledge with the team
  • Good command of English and Estonian

Useful additional skills:

  • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS or GCP)
  • Familiarity with orchestration (Airflow, Dagster, etc.) or CI/CD for data
  • Domain expertise in areas like finance, sales, marketing, production, churn or fraud

Why join us?

  • Above-market salary
  • Flexible hours and remote work options
  • A team of experienced specialists who actually help each other
  • No corporate bullshit!
  • Variety: projects with local and international companies across many sectors
  • Real influence: your ideas shape how we work and what we build
