Data Engineer

DB Global Technology is Deutsche Bank’s technology centre in Central and Eastern Europe.

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a team focused on building scalable data solutions within the Anti-Financial Crime area. The role involves working with large data volumes, distributed systems and modern data technologies to support fraud detection and compliance-related initiatives.

You will be part of an international engineering environment, collaborating closely with developers, analysts and business stakeholders to design, develop and improve data-driven applications and pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Big Data solutions using Python and PySpark

• Build and optimize scalable data pipelines and processing workflows

• Work with technologies from the Hadoop ecosystem such as Spark, Hive or HDFS

• Contribute to performance optimization, reliability and maintainability of applications

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions

• Support deployment, testing and monitoring activities in production environments

• Participate in code reviews and follow engineering best practices

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and automation processes

Requirements

• Strong experience with Python development

• Experience with Big Data technologies such as Spark, PySpark, Hadoop ecosystem components or distributed data processing

• Good knowledge of SQL and working with large datasets

• Familiarity with databases such as Oracle, Hive or similar technologies

• Understanding of Linux/Unix environments and Shell Scripting

• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git

• Knowledge of CI/CD or DevOps practices represents a plus

• Exposure to cloud platforms such as GCP represents an advantage

• Experience in banking, financial services or regulated environments is considered a plus
