🚀 Data Engineer (SQL \& Java) – Fully Remote (UK) \| Global Fintech

Our client is building next‑generation data capabilities to power a merchant‑first ecosystem — and they are looking for a hands‑on Data Engineer with strong database fundamentals and production‑grade engineering experience.

💼 The Role

As a Data Engineer, you will:

  • Design, create, and maintain scalable data pipelines
  • Build and optimise

database schemas

, tables, and cloud‑native workflows

  • Develop reliable ETL/ELT processes
  • Write and tune high-performance SQL across production systems
  • Transform and model data for analytics, reporting, and finance
  • Work closely with BI, Finance, and Engineering teams
  • Own deliverables end‑to‑end in a fast‑moving fintech environment

⭐ Your Background

Essential (Primary Profile)

We are looking for someone with

1–3 years of hands-on experience

who can demonstrate:

  • Solid database engineering experience

:

  • Designing schemas
  • Creating databases and tables
  • Building database objects — not just querying
  • Advanced SQL

, ideally on Oracle or PostgreSQL

  • Complex queries
  • Optimisation and performance tuning
  • Financial‑grade precision (8–10 decimal points)
  • At least 1 year of Java programming experience
  • Collections, streams, filters
  • Groovy experience is a bonus
  • Experience building and maintaining production data pipelines
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Airbyte)
  • Exposure to SOAP/REST APIs and cloud object storage (S3, Blob, Oracle Bucket)
  • Experience with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift) \& DBT

Nice to Have

  • Oracle systems or cloud experience
  • Groovy
  • Automation/testing frameworks
  • CI/CD \& version control best practices
