Job Description
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in each of the following: • Installing and configuring production database environments; • Utilizing database management software (SSMS, MySQL, MongoDB, etc) to create and maintain databases; • Upgrading and patching production database environments; • Designing and implementing stored procedures for database management; • Performing database performance tuning using indexing, query optimization, and server resource management; • Implementing comprehensive role-based access control to databases, including auditing functionality; • Configuring database encryption for data at rest and in transit; • Utilizing industry standard database monitoring and logging tools to track database performance, errors, and failures; • Implementing and maintaining database backups; • Configuring database replication and failover clustering, for high availably and disaster recovery. Desirable Qualifications: • Possession of a *Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent in the fields of Computer Science, Information Technology, or Database Management; • Minimum of five (5) years of experience documenting operational procedures and maintaining runbooks; • Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting extract, transform, load (ETL) activities; • Minimum of five (5) years of experience utilizing scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, etc.) to automate database management tasks; • Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing performance analysis and capacity planning. Database Administrator: Roles \& Responsibilities: The Database Administrator will assist in implementing and maintaining client organization databases, including supporting disaster recovery redundancy efforts. Some likely tasks include: • Install and configure database management systems; • Monitor database performance metrics and query execution times, recommending and implementing performance corrections as needed; • Implement and manage automated database backup schedules; • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as applying patches, updates, and version upgrades; • Support the implementation of database redundancy; and • Diagnose and resolve database errors, crashes, and connectivity issues.
