Required Skills \& Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar field.
- 5\+ years of experience in industrial electrical design. Candidates must have experience in
industrial automation or material handling industry
- AutoCAD Electrical preferred (or similar software)
- Strong understand of UL, NEC, and IEC electrical code requirements
Day to day:
As an Electrical Engineer in this role, you’ll be designing the electrical systems that power industrial automation and material‑handling equipment. Your work will blend hands‑on engineering design, code compliance, collaboration with project teams, and periodic onsite support. Here’s what your typical week will look like:
- Create
electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts
using AutoCAD Electrical (or similar tools).
- Select components (breakers, PLC hardware, power supplies, sensors, etc.) based on UL, NEC, and IEC requirements.
- Develop
bill of materials (BOMs)
and ensure all parts meet safety and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure electrical and mechanical designs align.
- Review customer specifications and translate functional requirements into practical electrical designs.
- Troubleshoot design challenges — e.g., panel spacing, load calculations, power distribution needs.
- Partner with controls engineers to ensure all systems are fully integrated and operable.
