Job Overview – Facilities Operations Manager
Compensation: $115,000 – $125,000/year \+ bonus
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)
Atlantic Group is hiring a Facilities Operations Manager in New York, NY for our client, supporting facilities management, engineering operations, janitorial services, and campus operations within an education environment. This role will oversee daily operations across multiple campus buildings while leading engineering, facilities, and custodial teams to ensure high-quality service delivery. The ideal candidate will bring strong facilities leadership experience, experience managing union environments, and the ability to oversee complex campus operations.
Responsibilities as the Facilities Operations Manager:
- Operational Leadership:
Oversee day-to-day facilities, engineering, and janitorial operations across multiple campus buildings while ensuring consistent service delivery and operational performance.
- Team Management:
Lead and support engineering leadership, supervisors, foremen, and operational staff while promoting accountability, training, and performance development.
- Client Relationship Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for leadership and stakeholders, providing operational updates, issue resolution, and ongoing communication.
- Facilities \& Work Order Oversight:
Manage work order systems, inspections, maintenance tracking, and corrective actions to ensure timely issue resolution and operational transparency.
- KPI \& Reporting Management:
Monitor operational performance metrics, prepare weekly and monthly reports, and implement process improvements to support service quality and efficiency.
- Vendor \& Compliance Oversight:
Supervise vendor performance, safety compliance, engineering operations, and quality control initiatives across the campus environment.
Qualifications for the Facilities Operations Manager:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
5\+ years of leadership experience managing engineering, janitorial, or facilities operations within a higher education or campus environment is required.
- Industry Knowledge:
Experience managing higher education, university, or large campus environments and working within union environments is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, work order management systems, facilities management software, and operational reporting tools is required.
- Skills \& Attributes:
Strong leadership skills, communication abilities, organizational skills, problem-solving capabilities, client management experience, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are required.
