Summary

Calvary Chapel Christian Academy is seeking a strong, faith-aligned

Upper Elementary Teacher

to provide Christ-centered instruction for students in

3rd through 6th grade

. This role is responsible for creating a structured, engaging, and academically strong classroom environment where students continue to grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, and academically.

We are looking for an educator who will support and uphold the Christian mission of the academy, model Christ-like character, and contribute to a positive, professional, and mission-driven learning environment. Upper elementary teachers are expected to provide data-informed, standards-aligned instruction that supports measurable student growth, academic ownership, and strong classroom leadership.

Duties

  • Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with Abeka, Bob Jones, and Virginia Standards of Learning expectations.
  • Develop weekly lesson plans and maintain them for review and submission to academy leadership.
  • Teach upper elementary students with a focus on academic rigor, student responsibility, writing development, reading comprehension, and math proficiency.
  • Create and maintain a structured, orderly, and engaging classroom environment that supports learning, positive behavior, and student growth.
  • Track and monitor student academic progress using IXL, iReady, grades, assessments, and other academy-approved data tools.
  • Maintain updated grade records and student documentation in accordance with academy expectations.
  • Use student data to guide instructional decisions, intervention, small-group support, and classroom planning.
  • Communicate professionally and consistently with families regarding student progress, concerns, and classroom expectations.
  • Attend and actively participate in instructional coaching sessions, professional development, and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Maintain current substitute plans and follow academy protocols for attendance and call-ins when absences occur.
  • Model servant leadership, professionalism, and Christ-like conduct in all interactions with students, families, coworkers, and leadership.
  • Support the spiritual, academic, and character development of students while contributing to a unified academy culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred; candidates with relevant teaching experience and demonstrated instructional ability will also be considered.
  • Teaching experience in an elementary classroom preferred.
  • Ability to plan and deliver strong classroom instruction for 3rd through 6th grade students.
  • Strong classroom management, organization, communication, and instructional planning skills.
  • Ability to teach upper elementary students with both structure and encouragement while maintaining high expectations.
  • Ability to use curriculum, assessment data, and student progress tracking to support learning outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain lesson plans, student records, and grade documentation consistently.
  • Ability to support and uphold the Christian mission of Calvary Chapel Christian Academy and contribute to a Christ-centered environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, supervise students, and remain active throughout the instructional day.
