DevOps Engineer - $74.52 - $88.94 per hour

This opportunity is for a Senior DevOps Engineer to help design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure and deployment systems for modern cloud-native applications.

The role focuses on treating operations as software-automating, instrumenting, and continuously improving the systems that power application delivery and reliability.

This is a hands-on engineering role working closely with application developers and infrastructure teams to strengthen operational readiness, improve observability, and build the tooling required to deliver reliable, high-performing software in both SaaS and on-premise environments.

Work Environment

This is a remote role within the United States, with a preference for candidates located in the Eastern Time Zone. The position supports a collaborative engineering culture focused on reliability, automation, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain deployment, packaging, and operational tooling supporting application delivery across SaaS and on-premise platforms
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation that improve software delivery speed and reliability
• Enhance observability systems, including monitoring, alerting, service health indicators, and reliability metrics
• Collaborate with application engineers to improve performance, scalability, and operational readiness
• Support application and database infrastructure across development, staging, and production environments
• Improve reliability and performance signals through monitoring, SLOs, and operational metrics
• Strengthen security and compliance practices, including supporting SOC 2 requirements
• Assist in designing infrastructure and automation that supports both cloud-based and on-premise delivery models
• Contribute to internal documentation, onboarding materials, and operational runbooks
• Provide secondary or escalation-level operational support when required

Qualifications

• 5\+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or platform engineering roles
• Experience working within B2B software startup environments
• Hands-on experience deploying and operating production Django applications
• Strong experience supporting PostgreSQL-based systems at scale, including migrations, schema design considerations, and performance tuning
• Ability to collaborate with engineering teams to improve query performance, caching strategies, and architectural decisions
• Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally using GitHub Actions
• Experience operating AWS environments including EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, and related services
• Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, or containerized infrastructure environments
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Helm
• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Mimir, or similar platforms
• Proficiency in scripting or development languages such as Python, Go, or shell scripting
• Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced startup environments with evolving requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with network automation or infrastructure automation ecosystems
• Experience operating high-throughput or performance-sensitive systems
• Open-source development or contributions
• Experience working within SOC 2 compliant environments
• Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms

Compensation:

$155,000 – $185,000 annually, plus bonus and equity opportunities
