About the Company
MarketSphere Unclaimed Property offers a full suite of unclaimed property services, including annual compliance, audit defense, voluntary disclosure agreements, risk assessments, corporate asset recovery, and owner reunification. Our Innovation Center supports these services by delivering modern, secure, and scalable software that drives client success and internal efficiency.
About the Role
We're looking for a strategic technology and product engineering leader to drive the growth of our Innovation Center, which provides broad technology services for our business and customers including software product development, data integrations, automation, and R\&D functions. This position will be responsible for coordinating the technical work related to the portfolio of products we build, the delivery of our commitments, and the operations of a rapidly growing product development organization.
Reporting to the CTO, you'll work alongside our technical and product leadership to execute the strategic direction across the full product portfolio. Your focus is the connective layer of the innovation and product engineering organization: portfolio strategy, program-level delivery accountability, client relationships, and the operating models that let a product organization scale, from planning cadence to career architecture and performance calibration. Success in this role depends on building alignment and followership across senior technical and functional leaders, not just managing downward.
This is not intended to be a hands-on development position, and we won't be evaluating candidates on their ability to write code. It is, however, a deeply technical leadership role. You'll organize and influence the work of architects and engineers: weighing architectural tradeoffs, pressure-testing estimates, and translating delivery risk into business terms for clients and executives. None of that can be done from a distance. Top candidates likely built software earlier in their careers and have since shifted their craft to leading the people and systems that build it.
Much of what we build is sensitive or mission-critical, so you'll need fluency in what it takes to deliver software under strict regulatory compliance expectations. We operate in an environment of rapid growth and change, and we're constantly looking for ways to solve business problems better, faster, and more profitably. We've already built a broad foundation of modern products and platforms, and we're ramping the team up as we take our offerings to the next level.
Responsibilities
- Drive execution of the Innovation Center's portfolio strategy and monitor its effectiveness: investment cases, initiative sequencing, and business rationale across strategic platform development, client project work, internal tooling, and new product bets
- Own program-level delivery accountability across concurrent initiatives, maintaining integrated visibility into scope, schedule, budget, and quality, with early, decision-ready escalation of risks and recovery options
- Serve as a senior technical point of contact for client engagements, supporting escalations, sales conversations, and key relationships
- Establish and run the organization's operating rhythm: planning cycles, program reviews, budget and vendor management, and the operational infrastructure required to scale the team
- Design and operate the organization's performance and career architecture in partnership with discipline leadership, including competency models, career ladders, and performance calibration
- Drive cross-functional alignment between product, architecture, and engineering leadership on priorities and tradeoffs
- Partner with the CTO on hiring plans, organizational design, and leadership development as the team grows
- Protect operations by keeping information confidential and modeling secure, compliant delivery practices across the organization
Qualifications \& Experience: Core
- 10\+ years in software product development, including significant program, portfolio, or multi-team leadership experience
- Demonstrated delivery accountability for software programs in regulated industries (financial services, banking, or healthcare strongly preferred)
- Proven ability to lead through influence and build alignment across senior technical and functional leaders
- Technical credibility sufficient to engage architects and senior engineers as a peer; a hands-on engineering background (ideally in a Microsoft/.NET and Azure ecosystem) is strongly preferred
- Experience building organizational infrastructure: career ladders, competency models, performance calibration, hiring processes, or comparable people systems
- Proven strength in client-facing communication and relationship building
- Comfort with managing budgets and vendor relationships
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field (experience may substitute for a portion of the education requirement)
Qualifications \& Experience: Preferred
- Experience scaling a product development organization through a significant growth phase
- Exposure to systems handling sensitive data under strict regulatory requirements (HIPAA, GLBA, ISO, SOC 2, PCI, etc.)
- Experience in professional services or client-delivery organizations where software commitments carry contractual weight
- Working knowledge of state unclaimed property requirements is a significant plus
