About Rex London

Starting life on a Portobello Road market stall in 1981, Rex London is now an international front runner in the home \& giftware industry. We design and sell a wide range of original gifts and homeware through our retail website (

), and also sell to the UK, European and international wholesale markets (

).

About the role

Your role is to deliver effective content that helps to drive existing customer retention, as well as customer acquisition. You’ll bring new ideas and creativity to the role, while understanding what works for our unique, established brand.

What you'll do

The primary responsibilities of this role are detailed below. However, we are a small team and you are encouraged to feed ideas into all marketing activities.

Email marketing

  • Overall responsibility for all consumer marketing emails including planning, writing, and building/designing
  • Provide weekly reports, using this data to improve email performance
  • Implement and monitor regular A/B testing for optimal email performance
  • Review and maintain transactional emails (e.g. welcome journey, abandoned basket) and newsletter sign-up journey

Blog

  • Plan blog topics to promote relevant campaigns and occasions, as well as supporting long-term brand building and SEO
  • Write and publish blog posts, both long and short form. This may include briefing and/or sourcing relevant imagery if needed
  • Work with guest bloggers for content that cannot be created in-house (e.g. for food, craft or interiors content)
  • Regularly review and update older, high-performing blog posts to keep them prominent and driving traffic

Website

  • Write impactful and inspiring product descriptions for all new products on the consumer website
  • Oversee categorisation, including monitoring category page performance and curating category pages
  • Proofread product descriptions for the trade website

Other

  • SMS marketing
  • Ad hoc proofreading of copy produced by the internal marketing team and external agencies

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Excellent English copywriting skills - you must be a confident and articulate writer, with a good understanding of how to write copy that converts across a range of platforms
  • A keen eye for visuals - you can make scroll-stopping emails
  • Strong knowledge of SEO and how to apply best practices
  • Confident with analysing data, and how to use results to optimise content performance
  • Strong experience with email marketing platforms, such as Mailchimp
  • Comfortable using GA4 to analyse data from email campaigns and website performance

Bonus

  • Experience with Shopify
  • Experience using Canva
  • Experience working in ecommerce or retail
  • Knowledge of optimising for AEO, and using AI tools to support and improve current marketing activity

There will be a two-stage interview process:

  • First stage w/c 15th June: meet with the Head of Digital Media and Content. This will be a brief video call to tell you a little more about the company and the role, and find out more about you
  • Final stage w/c 22nd June: successful applicants will be invited to complete a short writing task, and attend the Rex London offices for an in-person interview with the Head of Digital Media and Content, and the Head of Sales and Operations
