Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced commercial leader to shape commercialization strategy across pipeline and lifecycle assets within a specialty biopharmaceutical portfolio focused on rare disease and specialty therapeutics.
This highly cross-functional role serves as the commercial voice on development programs, translating scientific innovation, market dynamics, and stakeholder insights into strategies that maximize long-term asset value. The Director will partner across R\&D, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory, Finance, Business Development, and Commercial teams to influence development priorities, evidence generation, portfolio decisions, launch planning, and lifecycle strategy.
Success in this role requires the range to operate in a small company environment, owning strategy directly rather than through layers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead new product planning and lifecycle strategy for development and marketed assets, with direct input into upstream development priorities, future commercial opportunity, and long-term asset value.
- Translate unmet needs, market dynamics, and commercial value into clinical development input, including endpoint strategy, patient population considerations, evidence-generation priorities, label opportunity, and future access potential.
- Participate in annual brand planning, helping establish positioning, core messaging, strategic objectives, and stakeholder strategy across HCP, patient, payer, and health system audiences.
- Lead competitive intelligence across assigned therapeutic areas and programs, including market volume and share trends, treatment dynamics, stakeholder needs, competitor pipelines, and emerging commercial risks or opportunities.
- Conduct and synthesize market research to support brand planning, new product planning, lifecycle strategy, and commercial input into development decisions.
- Support portfolio prioritization, annual planning, and long-range growth initiatives by developing forecasts, business cases, and scenario analyses to guide lifecycle and pipeline investment decisions.
- Serve as the commercial voice on cross-functional product and governance teams for programs in development, integrating input from Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Market Access, Commercial Analytics, Finance, and Business Development.
- Communicate strategic recommendations, tradeoffs, and decision-ready insights to senior leadership.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 10\+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology commercial roles.
- Significant experience in strategic marketing, commercial strategy, brand management, new product planning, or lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical commercialization, clinical development processes, labeling considerations, regulatory pathways, and evidence-generation strategy.
- Demonstrated experience with market research, competitive intelligence, strategic planning, and cross-functional decision support.
- Financial acumen across forecasting models, scenario planning, and business case development.
- Ability to thrive in a small company environment where strategy, execution, and ownership sit close together.
Preferred
- Experience in rare disease, specialty therapeutics, or complex specialty markets.
- Prior involvement in launch planning, lifecycle management, new product planning, or portfolio strategy.
- Advanced degree such as MBA, PharmD, PhD, MPH, or equivalent preferred.
