Title:  Director of Brand Marketing

Reports to:   Vice President of Marketing

Location: Remote Southern California; must be available for monthly in-person meetings at the Murrieta headquarters and other key business meetings as needed

Compensation:  $175,000 annually \+ bonus participation

Our Founder Bethany McDaniel started Primally Pure in 2015 out of a personal desire to approach skincare from more of a holistic perspective and less of a clinical one. Having used all sorts of harsh prescription creams and pills to treat her acne as a teenager and young adult (and dealing with red, raw, irritated skin as a result), Bethany was blown away by the effects she eventually experienced after ditching the harsh chemicals and replacing them with simple \+ natural ingredients. Bethany’s journey inspired her to start Primally Pure (with an initial $250 order for ingredients \+ supplies) to help others experience the benefits of using clean products.

Although Primally Pure has grown exponentially since our launch in 2015 (an average of 175% year over year), our team still exemplifies the same level of passion and scrappiness that allowed Bethany to succeed back when she was making products in her kitchen, labeling them in her living room and shipping packages in her bedroom.

We are seeking an insightful and experienced Director of Brand Marketing to lead the development and execution of brand strategy across all consumer touchpoints and expressions. The successful candidate will be both a strategic thinker and an operator—capable of setting a clear vision for growth and expansion while ensuring excellence in day-to-day execution. You will lead a high-performing team of marketers and external agencies, collaborating cross-functionally and working closely with the VP of Marketing and CEO to strengthen brand loyalty and affinity while expanding awareness to new target audiences.

What You’ll Do

Brand Strategy \& Growth

  • Define and evolve Primally Pure’s brand strategy to drive increased consumer awareness, new customer acquisition and brand loyalty.
  • Translate business goals into clear brand-building initiatives that elevate positioning while expanding consumer reach.
  • Define actionable goals and measurement tools to accurately assess impact of brand campaigns and initiatives.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team of accomplished marketing professionals and external agencies across content, creative, social, PR/communications, and product marketing.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, support and clarity.
  • Provide clear direction, feedback, and prioritization across functions.
  • Actively manage and reallocate team resources based on fluctuations in marketing technology, consumer behaviors, competitive environment and channel priorities.

Creative \& Brand Expression

  • Act as a brand guardian to ensure campaigns are expressed consistently across all marketing channels, aligning with Primally Pure’s core values and market positioning.
  • Articulate and guide creative direction across seasonal campaigns, product launches, and evergreen content.
  • Elevate visual and verbal storytelling to consistently reflect a premium and well-differentiated brand.

Content, Social \& PR

  • Develop overall content strategy across owned and organic channels to drive brand awareness, engagement and purchase conversion.
  • Provide strategic direction to support the development of a compelling and culturally relevant social media and community engagement plan.
  • Drive PR, media relations and corporate communications efforts to successfully expand brand reach to new target audiences.

Product Marketing

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine product development priorities based on consumer insights, market impact and competitive landscape.
  • Ensure new Primally Pure products are launched with compelling positioning, cohesive messaging and integrated channel activations.
  • Direct evergreen product marketing campaigns for existing Primally Pure products.

Planning \& Budgeting

  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to develop and manage brand marketing and content production budgets.
  • Align resources and investments with strategic priorities and growth goals.
  • Oversee the management creative workflows, timelines, and resourcing across internal and external teams.
  • Manage brand toolkit development, ensuring all channels and partners have necessary assets to successfully activate brand and product marketing initiatives.

What You Bring

  • 8–10 years of brand marketing experience, ideally with a premium beauty, skincare, or wellness brand
  • Proven experience building and scaling a brand in a high-growth environment (DTC experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong leadership experience managing and developing creative and marketing teams
  • Deep understanding of content, social, PR, and product marketing
  • Strong creative instincts with a high bar for brand and storytelling
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence at a leadership level
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • A deep appreciation for brand consistency, detail, and craftsmanship
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills
