Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced
Director of Engineering (DoE)
with deep expertise in
5G Core technologies (SA/NSA), roaming architecture, and telecom signaling
. This is a
hands-on leadership role
requiring both
technical depth and strong engineering management capabilities
.
The ideal candidate will act as a
technical authority
, guiding engineering teams across
design, development, deployment, and operations
, while also driving
product delivery and operational excellence
.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Provide
domain expertise in 5G SA (including SEPP), 5G NSA, and LTE/IMS architecture
s
Lead discussions and design around
- 5G SA core architectu
re, UE interactions, signaling, and bearer flows.
- 5G NSA signaling flo
ws, including Sx interfaces and data call setup.
- 4G LTE data, IMS, and VoLTE call flo
ws.
- Demonstrate ability t
o present and explain call flows (whiteboard-leve
l) with full signaling depth.
- Serve as th
e primary technical authori
ty for the engineering team.
Roaming \& Interconnect Expertise
Design and manage international roaming architectures, including
SEPP-based roaming (5G
SA).
Integration flows such
- LM SEPP ↔ Syniverse SEPP (proxy)
- ↔ Roaming hubs (Comfone, BICS, etc.)
- ↔ Carrier SEPPs (e.g., Verizon, AT\&T.
- Strong understanding
of security, proxy routing, and roaming interfaces.
- Experience w
ith PNI-NPN (Public Network Integrated - Non-Public Networks
.
Engineering Management
Lead and manage a team of engineers to:
- Deliver high-quality products on time.
- Maintain engineering excellence and accountability.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance.
- Drive high-performance cu
lture and extract the best from engineers.
- Manage expectations on product del
ivery with internal and external stakeholders.
Product Development Lifecycle
- Own end-to-end engineering lifecycle.
- Convert product requirements
into Design → HLD → LLD → CIQ → Deployment.
- Ensure alignment across design, implementation, and deployment teams.
- Lead postmortems after product la
unches to identify improvements.
Operations \& Support:
- Drive transition to Operation
s (NOC) for deployed prodcuts.
- Establish an
d lead Tier 3
support for customer-facing issues.
- Handle major outages and esca
lations, including:
- Root cause analysis (RCA)
- MTTR reduction strategies.
- Cross-team coordination during incidents.
- Act as escalation poi
nt for critical production issues.
UE \& Device Expertise
Strong understan
ding of User Equipment (UE)
behavior in:
- Attach procedures.
- Data sessions.
- VoLTE/IMS flows.
- Ability to
analyze device-level interaction with the network.
Qualifications \& Experience
- Required10\+
years in Telecom/5G en
gineering, with strong
focus on Core networks.
Proven experience in:
- 5G SA with SEPP5G NSA architecture.
- LTE/IMS/VoLTE call flows.
- Hands-on exp
ertise in signaling flows and telecom protocols.
- Strong expe
rience in roaming architectures and SEPP integrations
.
- Proven leadership experience
managing engineering
teams.
Preferred Experience
Working with:
- Roaming hubs (Syniverse, BICS,
Comfone).
- Tier-1 operators (e.g., Verizon, AT\&T).
- Exper
ience with private networks (NPN/PNI-NPN).
- Strong
background in incident management and NOC operations.
