Job Description

About Mamiye Brothers

Founded in 1947, Mamiye Brothers is a family-owned designer, manufacturer and marketer of children’s and women’s apparel, headquartered in New York. We are investing in technology as a competitive advantage and are looking for a forward-thinking leader to shape how we use systems, data and AI across the business.

Position Summary

This is the company’s top technology position, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. The Director of Information Technology is the company’s senior technology leader, responsible for technology strategy, business systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity and the user experience of IT. This is a hands-on leadership role: the Director sets a multi-year vision and sits at the table with the executive team, while staying close enough to the work to understand our ERP, integrations and daily operations. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who listens to the business, translates needs into practical solutions, and builds a responsive, service-oriented IT team.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy \& Leadership

  • Develop and own a multi-year technology roadmap aligned with company goals in sales, sourcing, production, distribution and finance.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the COO and executive team; present technology plans, investments and results in plain business language.
  • Own the IT budget (operating and capital), vendor strategy and contract negotiations; drive value and cost discipline, including AWS and software spend.
  • Lead, coach and develop the IT team; set clear goals, accountability and a culture of service and responsiveness.

Business Systems \& ERP

  • Own Exenta (Aptean) ERP: configuration, upgrades, governance, data integrity, and continuous improvement of how the business uses it.
  • Oversee integrations and data flows among ERP, EDI/trading partners, warehouse and logistics systems, e-commerce/marketplaces, PLM, finance and reporting tools.
  • Work directly with department heads to understand workflows, identify pain points, and implement new systems or improvements to existing ones.
  • Establish best practices, standard operating procedures and user training for core systems.

Innovation, Data \& AI

  • Identify and implement practical AI and automation tools (e.g., document processing, forecasting, customer service, reporting, productivity copilots) with measurable ROI.
  • Build a data and reporting strategy that gives leadership timely, reliable insight into sales, inventory, margins and operations.
  • Set policies for responsible and secure use of AI and SaaS tools across the company.

Infrastructure, Security \& Service

  • Through the Infrastructure \& Operations Manager, ensure a secure, reliable and scalable environment across network, AWS cloud, end-user devices and collaboration tools.
  • Own the cybersecurity program, business continuity and disaster recovery, and compliance with retailer and partner requirements.
  • Implement IT service management: ticketing, service levels, user-satisfaction measurement and regular reporting to leadership.
  • Manage project intake and prioritization so business requests are visible, scheduled and delivered.

Qualifications

  • 10\+ years of progressive IT experience, including 5\+ years leading IT teams and technology strategy, ideally in apparel, consumer products, wholesale or distribution.
  • Hands-on ERP ownership in a mid-market company; Exenta, AFS, Blue Cherry or comparable apparel/wholesale ERP strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of EDI, integrations/APIs, warehouse and supply-chain systems, and AWS cloud environments.
  • Track record of delivering technology initiatives that produced measurable business results; experience implementing AI or automation is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional communication and listening skills; able to explain technology to non-technical colleagues and build trust across departments.
  • Collaborative, open to input, and service-minded; comfortable being both strategic and hands-on in a lean team.
  • Strong vendor management, budgeting and project management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or related field; MBA or relevant certifications a plus.

What Success Looks Like in the First Year

  • A documented technology roadmap approved by the executive team within 90 days.
  • Measurably faster response and resolution of user requests, with published service levels and a regular IT scorecard.
  • A smooth transition of knowledge, systems and vendor relationships from the outgoing IT leadership.
  • At least two business-visible improvements delivered (e.g., an Exenta workflow improvement, a new reporting capability, an AI/automation pilot).
  • A complete, current inventory of systems, documentation, security posture and disaster-recovery
