Director of IT Engineering

For our client, we are seeking a Director of IT Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Telecommunications \& Hardware space.

This role will shape and execute the long-term IT strategy for a distributed organization, with a strong focus on dependable service delivery and a seamless employee technology experience. You will lead core IT functions spanning help desk, IT engineering, and business applications while driving operational discipline across change and incident management. The position partners closely with Security and Engineering to build secure, scalable IT environments that support a remote workforce. In addition, you will manage budgets, vendors, and team development to strengthen reliability, efficiency, and organizational growth.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $218,000 – $256,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Define and implement a multi-year IT strategy aligned with company goals.
• Oversee performance and quality of Help Desk, IT Engineering, and Business applications teams.
• Ensure reliable IT service delivery for a remote workforce, focusing on user experience.
• Build and lead a high-performing IT organization, fostering team development.
• Establish and improve IT operating rhythms, including change and incident management.
• Collaborate with Security and Engineering to create secure IT environments.
• Manage IT budgets and vendor relationships, balancing cost and reliability.

Qualifications

• 10\+ years of IT experience, with 5\+ years in leadership roles managing managers and distributed teams.
• Proven track record in IT strategy and operations for mid-sized or larger organizations, preferably in SaaS or security-focused environments.
• Experience in remote-first or hybrid workplaces, supporting distributed teams across time zones.
• Deep knowledge of core IT domains including endpoint management, identity and access management, and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong vendor management skills, including evaluation and performance management.
