About the Role
The Director of Social Strategy \& Creative owns the vision, quality, performance, and day-to-day leadership of AFMKTG's Social Division.
You'll lead our team of Social Media Managers, creators, editors, designers, photographers, videographers, and creative partners while serving as the strategic leader for our client accounts.
Working closely with the CEO, you'll continually elevate our creative standards, refine our methodologies, mentor our team, and ensure every client receives an exceptional experience from strategy through execution.

What You'll Own
Creative Leadership \& Social Strategy
As the leader of AFMKTG's Social Division, you'll uphold the creative standard and strategic direction for every client engagement.
You'll stay ahead of platform trends, algorithm updates, paid and organic strategy, audience behavior, luxury branding, AI tools, and emerging best practices—continually evolving our approach to keep clients ahead of the market.
More importantly, you'll coach the team to think more strategically, push ideas further, and continually raise the bar.
Creative Excellence \& Quality Assurance
You are the final guardian of quality.
While our Social Media Managers develop strategies, content plans, and campaigns, you'll review, refine, and elevate their work before it reaches the client. You'll provide thoughtful feedback that strengthens strategy, sharpens storytelling, improves creative direction, and ensures every deliverable reflects AFMKTG's standards.
You have exceptional creative taste and know the difference between good work and unforgettable work—and you know how to coach others to get there.
Content Production \& Creative Direction
You'll lead the creative direction of our content missions from concept through execution.
This role requires regular attendance at photoshoots and video productions throughout San Diego, where you'll be onsite to direct the creative team, photographers, videographers, creators, and on-camera talent to ensure we capture exceptional content.
You'll shape creative concepts before production and make real-time creative decisions on set to maximize every content mission.
Team Leadership \& Client Success
You'll lead, mentor, and develop our team of Social Media Managers, creators, editors, designers, photographers, videographers, and creative partners.
Rather than managing every deliverable yourself, you'll build a team capable of producing consistently exceptional work through coaching, accountability, and clear creative direction.
You'll also serve as the senior strategic advisor for client accounts—leading meetings, presenting strategy, navigating feedback, and ensuring every client receives a proactive, white-glove experience.
The Social Division should look to you for leadership, guidance, and creative direction.

You're equal parts strategist, creative director, coach, and leader.
You have exceptional creative taste but are equally comfortable mentoring creative professionals, leading executive-level client conversations, directing content productions, and providing feedback that makes good work become exceptional.

Qualifications
- 7\+ years of experience leading social marketing, content, or creative teams within a marketing, branding, or creative agency.
- Experience managing and mentoring teams of 5–10\+ creative professionals.
- Proven ability to direct premium content productions from concept through execution.
- Deep understanding of Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Meta advertising, analytics, and platform strategy.
- Experience working with luxury, hospitality, real estate, multifamily, lifestyle, or aesthetic medicine brands.
- Strong executive presence with exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Highly organized with outstanding project management abilities.
- Passion for mentoring creative professionals and building high-performing teams.

Location Requirements
This position requires regular in-person collaboration with clients and the creative team.
Candidates must:
- Be available to lead client meetings and content missions throughout the San Diego region (up to approximately 10-12 content mission days per month).
- Be comfortable directing creative teams and on-camera talent during photoshoots and video productions.
- Be willing to travel outside of San Diego approximately 10% of the time as needed.
