This leadership role sits within a global engineering organization focused on building and scaling mission-critical mobility and payments platforms. You will be responsible for guiding the technical vision, architecture, and execution of core services that power complex fleet management and payment solutions used across North America. The role combines deep technical expertise with strong people leadership, requiring you to build and scale high-performing engineering teams across distributed geographies. You will collaborate closely with product and business stakeholders to translate customer needs into scalable, secure, and high-performance systems. With a strong focus on innovation and delivery excellence, you will drive modernization efforts that reduce time-to-market and improve engineering efficiency. This is a highly visible role where your decisions directly influence platform scalability, customer experience, and long-term technical strategy.
Accountabilities
- Define and lead the long-term technical vision and architectural roadmap for core mobility and payments services, ensuring alignment with business goals and scalability requirements.
- Lead, grow, and mentor distributed engineering teams, fostering a high-performance culture centered on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the design and delivery of microservices-based architectures, ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performing systems deployed on cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Collaborate with product and business leaders to translate customer requirements into actionable engineering priorities and execution plans.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices, including development standards, CI/CD processes, and metrics-driven productivity tracking.
- Drive operational excellence through structured delivery mechanisms, roadmap planning, and continuous performance monitoring of engineering initiatives.
- Present technical strategy, risks, and progress updates to senior leadership, ensuring alignment across global teams and stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10\+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5\+ years in engineering leadership roles managing both individual contributors and managers.
- Strong expertise in cloud-based architectures, microservices, REST APIs, and modern software engineering practices.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including deployment, scalability, and security best practices.
- Proven ability to lead distributed, cross-functional engineering teams across multiple geographies.
- Strong understanding of system design, architecture governance, and software development lifecycle management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at executive level.
- Ability to operate in fast-paced, ambiguous environments while driving clarity, execution, and results.
- Experience in payments systems, fleet platforms, or ISO8583-based card processing environments is a strong plus.
