The Role: Senior Public Relations Advisor
"Helping tell the stories that matter most"
Reporting to the Team Leader Marketing and Communications, this is your opportunity to be at the centre of the conversations that shape how Council connects with its community.
In this trusted advisory role, you'll work alongside the CEO, Mayor and senior leaders, providing clear, timely advice on issues that matter, from major announcements to emerging community conversations. You'll help ensure Council's voice is confident, considered, and easy to understand.
No two days will look the same and that's part of the appeal. You'll bring calm, clarity and good judgement to fast-moving situations, while working closely with a supportive communications team.
What you'll be doing:
- Providing practical, trusted advice on sensitive and high-profile matters
- Shaping clear and engaging media releases and key messages
- Keeping a finger on the pulse of local issues and community sentiment
- Working collaboratively to deliver consistent, timely communications
- Supporting internal communications and organisational messaging
- Representing communications at Council meetings, events and announcements
- Contributing to guidance on public messaging and communication practices
About you
You're a confident communicator who enjoys variety and brings a steady, considered approach to your work. You know how to navigate complex situations with professionalism, but you don't let pressure take away your sense of perspective.
