Job Description
Director - Sales (EPCM - US Market)
Location Preferred : Houston, Texas, USA
Experience: 10 – 20 Years
Qualification: Chemical/ Mechanical Engineering preferred
Role Objective:
Drive new businesses in USA and revenue growth for EPCM services in the US market by leveraging an existing industry network, identifying mid-to-large industrial opportunities and successfully converting them into awarded contracts.
Core Requirement :
- Proven ability to generate and close EPCM business independently
- Establish client network in Houston/ Texas industrial ecosystem
- Demonstrated experience in US$5–50 million\+ project pursuits (engineering / EPCM scope)
- Track record of originating opportunities (not just handling inbound leads)
- Strong exposure to FEED, EPC, EPCM commercial structures and contracting models
Key Responsibilities :
1\. Business Generation
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new EPCM opportunities in:
o Oil \& Gas (upstream/midstream/downstream)
o Petrochemicals
o Specialty Chemicals
o Energy \& Industrial Manufacturing
- Build a qualified pipeline of minimum USD 20–30 million within 12–18
months (recommended KPI)
2\. Client Engagement
- Direct engagement with:
o End Clients / Owners
o EPC Contractors
o Licensors / Technology Providers
o Engineering Consultants
- Establish SES (or your firm) as a credible EPCM partner in the US market
3\. Sales Execution
- Lead complete sales cycle:
o Opportunity identification
o Pre-qualification
o Proposal development (technical \+ commercial) with our help at offshore
o Client presentations
o Negotiation \& closure
- Drive win strategy, not just proposal coordination
4\. Internal Coordination
- Work closely with:
o Engineering teams (India/ Global delivery centers)
o Proposal \& estimation teams
o Project execution teams
- Ensure commercially viable and technically competitive proposals
5\. Market Intelligence
- Track:
o Upcoming capital projects
o Competitor positioning
o Industry investment trends
- Provide actionable insights—not just reporting
Requirements : ( Mandatory Experience Criteria )
- 10\+ years in EPC/EPCM sales/business development
- Minimum 5\+ years in US market
- Strong exposure to industrial projects only
- Existing relationships with:
o Refiners, chemical companies, EPC firms, or midstream operators
- Experience in:
o Proposal preparation \& bid strategy
o Commercial negotiations \& contract structuring
Non-Negotiable Competencies
- Ability to open doors at decision-maker level (VP/Director level)
- Strong commercial acumen (pricing, margins, risk evaluation)
- Clear understanding of EPCM vs EPC execution models
- Capability to operate independently as a market launcher
Preferred (High-Value Differentiators)
- Prior experience working with:
o Engineering outsourcing / global delivery models
- Exposure to:
o Brownfield expansions / revamps
o Sustainability / energy transition projects
- Strong network within:
o Houston EPC ecosystem (Bechtel, Fluor, KBR, Worley, etc.)
Performance Metrics Pipeline generated (USD value)
- Number of qualified leads converted to proposals
- Proposal-to-win ratio
- Annual order booking target
- Strategic account development
