We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee our accounting operations, strengthen financial reporting, and help build scalable financial processes as the company continues to grow.

Position Overview

The Controller will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions of the company, including accounts payable, job costing, reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role will work closely with the ownership team to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong cash flow visibility, and support operational decision-making.

This is a key leadership position within the company and will play an important role in improving financial systems and processes as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting \& Financial Management

• Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable oversight, and general ledger management
• Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Online or other accounting systems
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
• Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of all financial data
• Maintain internal financial controls and accounting policies

Construction Accounting \& Job Costing

• Manage and maintain job costing systems for roofing and construction projects
• Track project profitability and job cost variance
• Work with operations to ensure proper cost allocation and reporting
• Monitor subcontractor payments and vendor invoices

Cash Flow \& Financial Oversight

• Monitor daily and weekly cash flow
• Assist ownership with financial forecasting and budgeting
• Maintain visibility into receivables, payables, and working capital

Process Improvement

• Improve accounting workflows and financial systems
• Help implement scalable processes and automation where possible
• Coordinate with external CPA for tax preparation and compliance

Team Support

• Train and support internal staff on accounting processes and financial SOPs
• Assist leadership with financial insights and operational reporting

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5\+ years of accounting experience (construction industry strongly preferred)
• Strong experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting systems
• Experience with job costing and project-based accounting
• Strong understanding of financial statements and GAAP principles
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills

Preferred:

• Experience in roofing, construction, or trade contracting businesses
• Experience managing accounting staff or outsourced accounting services
• CPA or CMA designation (preferred but not required)

Compensation \& Benefits

• Salary range: $90,000 – $130,000 depending on experience
