Summary/Objective

As an Operations Engineer, you will be part of the Operations team and be accountable for ensuring uptime of the production environment. You are organized, self-motivated, a team player, and are able to actively participate in the exchange of ideas with peers and management. You will have the opportunity to work independently as well as with a great team of Operational Analysts. You will work on important and exciting projects that will shape the future of Paymentus!

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities

• Manage and drive critical operations tasks within the organization
• Kubernetes Orchestration: Manage, scale, and optimize production Kubernetes clusters. Drive the automation of cluster deployments, upgrades, and resource management.
• Production Reliability: Respond to, research, and resolve complex production problems within the Kubernetes ecosystem and underlying infrastructure in accordance with Paymentus policy.
• Respond to, research, and resolve production problems in accordance with Paymentus policy. - Monitor the production platform using tools such as Cacti, Nagios, ELK.
• Update and patch infrastructure in accordance with security patching policy.
• Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
• Assist with back-end provisioning of new customers.
• Participate in the weekly on-call production support rotation.
• Research and promote new technology, build Proof of Concept systems.
• Adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures while performing job duties.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have any supervisory responsibility or direct reports.

Education and Experience

• 5\+ years with one or more distributions of Linux (CentOS/Ubuntu/Debian/RHEL/SLES)
• 2\+ year of Windows 7/8/10
• 3\+ years in Scripting
• 2\+ years of Apache and Tomcat
• 3\+ years of SQL
• 3\+ years of Kubernetes
• Strong Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills
• A desire to automate tasks over manually completing them
• Nice to have AWS experience

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may be required to life up to 25 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

10-15% travel to customer sites may be required based upon project needs.
