Job Description

My client, a leading hedge fund in New York, is seeking a Data Analyst to join their team. The Data Analytics Specialist will combine technical expertise with business insight to design and deliver control frameworks, dashboards, and automated validations across large-scale data sets. This role offers exposure to a wide range of asset classes, trading platforms, exchange structures, and global markets, while playing a key role in ensuring the integrity of trade data throughout its lifecycle.

Sitting within Operations / Middle Office, the position works closely with Compliance and Technology to monitor trade flows, confirm trades are accurately captured and reported, and ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of critical data. Responsibilities include developing and automating reconciliations and health checks across large and complex datasets, including order management and upstream/downstream systems; building dashboards and key performance indicators to validate trade generation, routing, and reporting; implementing data quality controls and automated exception reporting; partnering with Technology on system migrations and enhancements by defining control requirements and validating outcomes through testing and analytics; supporting data governance initiatives by identifying data issues, documenting data lineage, and contributing to standards for critical datasets; and leveraging analytics, automation, and AI-driven tools to streamline reporting, reduce manual effort, and improve transparency. The role also involves collaborating with stakeholders across Operations, Compliance, and Middle Office to understand workflows, refine control logic, and address issues identified through analysis.

The ideal candidate will a minimum of 5 years of experience in financial services data analytics, along with strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets, proficiency in Python or a similar language for data analysis and automation, familiarity with institutional trading workflows and systems such as order management, trade reporting, or surveillance platforms, and experience with data visualization and reporting tools. They will bring strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences, and a collaborative mindset suited to working across business and technology teams. The candidate should be highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities, taking ownership of work end-to-end, and identifying, investigating, and resolving data or process issues, with a foundational understanding of financial instruments across asset classes.
