Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Legal Assistant to join an in‑house legal department and support a team of experienced labor attorneys. This Legal Assistant role is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Sherman Oaks, CA, offering full benefits and meaningful exposure to labor law in practice. The Legal Assistant will play a critical role in the negotiation, drafting, and administration of collective bargaining agreements. This position is an excellent path for candidates considering law school or seeking long‑term growth as a Legal Assistant within an in‑house legal team.

Duties \& Expectations of the Legal Assistant:

  • Serve as a Legal Assistant supporting labor attorneys in the negotiation, drafting, revision, and finalization of collective bargaining agreements, including careful line‑by‑line and page‑by‑page review of lengthy contracts where formatting and accuracy are critical.
  • As a Legal Assistant, assist with bargaining preparation and administration by organizing files, researching prior contracts and agreements, splicing and synthesizing notes for proposals, and supporting the creation of bargaining history materials.
  • Demonstrate extreme attention to detail, as formatting mistakes are taken seriously; the Legal Assistant is expected to ensure all documents are accurate, consistent, and professionally presented.
  • Take initiative in staying ahead of attorney needs by creating checklists, tracking open items, maintaining filing and calendaring systems, and handling administrative duties as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys and legal staff, demonstrating the ability to work well with others while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced legal environment.
  • Meet role requirements including a bachelor's degree, strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the discretion expected of a Legal Assistant handling sensitive and confidential information.
