About the Role

A Strategic Business Analyst is a foundational component of the STC strategic vision that focuses on providing data driven business solutions that have been vetted against STC cross divisional and functional requirements along with a clear understanding of downstream impacts. They enable data-driven decision making through analyzing large datasets with tools like SQL and Excel, giving leadership reliable insights rather than intuition-based guidance. Strategic Business analysts are expected to identify operational bottlenecks, streamline processes, and recommend cost-saving improvements. Ultimately their responsibility is to safeguard project success by ensuring business objectives are technically feasible and meet the organization’s strategic goals.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as a strategic liaison across all areas of STC, including Sales, Business Units, Business Intelligence, Engineering, Data Science, Machine learning and Salesforce teams, to align priorities and drive coordinated, enterprise-wide outcomes. Serve as an accountable third-party resource, ensuring teams have all necessary information from the outset and are positioned to deliver according to defined requirements.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Research and Discovery processes, STC technologies, requirements-gathering best practices, and documentation standards.
  • Efficiently and accurately complete requests assigned by Business Analyst leadership, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality output. Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead the design of future-state workflows, including automation, simplification, and standardization. Analyze performance drivers and provide data-supported recommendations for enhancement.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of effective requirements documentation, diagramming techniques, methodologies, market research practices, and competitive analysis approaches.
  • Provide leadership with timely updates, including estimated completion timelines, potential risks, identified complications, and any necessary escalation needs.
  • Proactively request training, resources, or support from leadership when needed to successfully fulfill responsibilities.
  • Ensure all requirements align with strategic objectives while considering business implications, process impacts, and levels of effort. Offer guidance on optimal toolsets and data storage solutions to meet requirements with minimal additional development or maintenance.
  • Partner with BI and Data Science and Machine Learning teams to build impactful dashboards, KPIs, and ad-hoc analyses supporting performance and decision-making.
  • Assist with change-management communication and adoption efforts for new tools, processes, and enhancements along with Sales Enablement leadership to ensure alignment.
  • Prepare and deliver demonstrations and progress updates for end users and senior leadership across all Shamrock subsidiaries.
  • Uphold STC cultural standards by consistently demonstrating professional written and verbal communication in all internal and external interactions.

  • 2\+ years of experience in an analytical or research and development role, with a focus on producing high-quality analytical and technical documentation.
  • Proactive learner committed to continuously expanding knowledge and skill sets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
  • Highly curious and priority-driven, with the ability to ask the right questions and explore opportunities for improvement.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously, while managing multiple tasks and supporting cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong general business acumen with the ability to confidently analyze the transportation industry and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Experience with Documenting Requirements and diagramming/visualization tools.
  • Understanding and ability to navigate Databases, Salesforce, and Business Intelligence tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and analytical features.
  • Experience in freight, trucking, supply chain, and/or logistics industries.
  • Foundational SQL skills and experience working within Databricks
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
