Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a Creative Lead – UX \& Design Systems to support ongoing digital initiatives across multiple workstreams. This role operates at the intersection of design, UX, and engineering, ensuring that components are designed, implemented, and scaled in alignment with existing design systems.

The ideal candidate is highly hands-on in design execution, actively building and evolving components in Figma, while also guiding design decisions across teams. This is not a traditional creative director role, but a hands-on creative lead who can bring consistency, structure, and efficiency to how digital experiences are designed and delivered.

In addition to component design, this role will also contribute to page-level design, including layout, structure, and visual direction. The candidate should be comfortable advising stakeholders on page composition, imagery and overall user experience.

This role will play a key part in reducing design fragmentation, improving component reuse, and minimizing downstream impact on engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively design and build UI components and page-level experiences in Figma

on a day-to-day basis, contributing directly to design outputs across workstreams

  • Own the creation, refinement, and maintenance of component libraries and reusable design patterns
  • Ensure consistency across digital experiences by applying and evolving design system standards
  • Partner closely with design, product, and engineering teams to align component design with technical feasibility and reuse
  • Collaborate directly with engineering teams to translate design components into scalable, production-ready implementations
  • Review and guide design work across workstreams to maintain visual and functional consistency, while remaining hands-on in execution
  • Identify opportunities to reduce duplication and unnecessary custom development through component reuse and standardization
  • Contribute to the evolution, documentation, and governance of design systems and component libraries
  • Support multiple concurrent initiatives, ensuring alignment across teams and deliverables
  • Design and contribute to page-level experiences, including layout, structure, and visual composition
  • Partner with business and stakeholder teams to advise on page design, imagery, and content presentation
  • Translate business requirements into well-structured, user-friendly page designs aligned with UX best practices

Required Experience \& Skills

  • 7–10 years of experience in Product Design, UX Design, or Digital Design roles
  • Strong, recent hands-on experience with component-based design and design systems
  • Deep expertise in Figma, including component libraries, variants, and scalable design patterns
  • Demonstrated experience actively creating components and design systems, not just reviewing or managing design work
  • Proven experience working closely with engineering teams on implementation of UI components
  • Solid understanding of web technologies (HTML/CSS/JS fundamentals) and how designs translate into code
  • Experience working across the full product or website lifecycle (design → build → iteration)
  • Ability to operate across multiple workstreams in fast-paced environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder alignment skills

Preferred Profile

  • Experience working within or alongside enterprise design systems
  • Background in design system governance or component library ownership
  • Ability to balance hands-on design work with design oversight and guidance
  • Portfolio demonstrating component systems, reusable patterns, and real-world implementation examples
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and evolving requirements
  • Experience working with distributed teams across time zones
  • Familiarity with Figma Make, FlowStep, UX Pilot, Google Stitch and AI-assisted design tools (nice to have)

Work Model

  • Preferred: San Francisco-based, working onsite Tuesday through Thursday
  • Alternate: NA timezone-aligned resource working closely with distributed teams
  • Role will support multiple concurrent workstreams and require close collaboration with both design and engineering teams

Key Success Traits

  • Strong systems thinker with a focus on consistency, scalability, and reuse
  • Hands-on designer who can both build and elevate design quality across teams
  • Pragmatic approach to design, balancing ideal UX with technical feasibility
  • Proactive in identifying and resolving design inefficiencies and implementation gaps
