CTO / Founding Engineer — AI Marketplace \| Seed Stage (Confidential)

We’re partnering with a high-growth AI-native marketplace company hiring its first US-based technical leader.

You’ll be the technical co-architect of the platform — designing the marketplace engine, the data infrastructure, and the AI foundation the business will scale on.

Tech Environment

Node.js (Firebase Cloud Functions), PostgreSQL, Firestore

React, Tailwind, Material-UI

OpenAI \+ Google Cloud APIs

Event-driven / distributed architecture

Ideal Background

• Early engineer (5–25) at a startup that scaled meaningfully
• Built two-sided marketplaces, recommendation systems, or matching engines
• Strong backend \+ data architecture depth
• Experience solving cold start, ranking, liquidity, or quality problems
• Codes daily. Ships weekly. Thinks in systems.

AI-native mindset required.

What You’ll Own

• Architect and ship an intelligent matching engine powering a self-service marketplace
• Design ranking systems and outcome-driven feedback loops that continuously improve match quality
• Solve complex marketplace challenges including cold start, liquidity, and quality optimization
• Scale placement volume significantly without increasing operational headcount
• Build internal tooling across account management, client success, and talent operations
• Hire, mentor, and enable senior engineers to operate independently
• Design and own the long-term data architecture that transforms marketplace activity into structured learning signals
• Build the infrastructure required to train AI agents on real-world outcomes
• Architect systems today that enable autonomous execution tomorrow
