Role Description: “What is the day-to-day like?”

This is a full-time, remote role for a Chief Technical Officer or engine expert located just about anywhere in the world. We understand no single person has ALL these skills and that some of these experiences will be learned as you become embedded with GraySky.

Our CTO will be willing and capable of performing an array of strategic and project-based initiatives. The responsibilities of the role will encompass:

  • Contributing a broad, real-world, technical perspective on aircraft and engine underwriting and the commercial impacts:
  • Engine green time analysis
  • Estimates on maintenance events
  • Residual value estimates at different stages of asset life cycles – not just penciling in an appraiser’s value
  • Ideas on deal structuring that challenge industry norms
  • Leading various technical consultants from our and your network on projects that may benefit from your on-site presence:
  • technical asset analysis
  • records reviews
  • pre-purchase inspections
  • engine shop visits
  • negotiation GTAs and workscopes
  • aircraft deliveries/redeliveries
  • Building upon our existing asset management processes/systems with an appreciation of incorporating AI tools and features

Best-Fit Qualifications “Is this how you or someone who knows you would mostly describe…you?”

  • Can manage healthy conflict with data-driven decisions, both internally and externally, i.e., within team discussions and with airlines, MROs, OEMs
  • You need to possess extensive knowledge of current tech engines (narrowbody and widebody)
  • A deep level of personal resilience – the competitive landscape is always changing, and we need to react/adapt accordingly.
  • Energized by the frequent and intense challenges that a young leasing platform must overcome
  • Business planning, strategic planning, and budgeting skills
  • Willingness to invest in knowledge sharing/mentoring to grow a high-caliber team in the coming months/years
  • General curiosity to understand the “why” in all aspects of our business

Compensation:

  • $250,000-$350,000 USD
  • Up to 3% straightline vesting equity
  • Discretionary bonus (we prefer investing excess cash into our transactions)
  • Flexible arrangements on healthcare depending on the overall comp/benefits package
