Freelance Game Developer – Unity Multiplayer

Join a dynamic indie team to architect and optimize multiplayer systems for a large-scale roleplaying game built in Unity. This contract role focuses on developing robust networking solutions to support 100–150 concurrent players in a persistent, shared world. You will play a key part in shaping the technical foundation of a new multiplayer experience, collaborating remotely with a small, dedicated team. The ideal candidate is passionate about scalable game architecture and eager to leverage AI tools to enhance development efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain multiplayer networking systems in Unity for high player concurrency
• Optimize network performance and scalability for persistent world environments
• Collaborate with other developers to integrate networking with gameplay features
• Troubleshoot, profile, and resolve network-related issues and bottlenecks
• Apply best practices in software engineering and game architecture
• Utilize AI-driven tools to accelerate development, testing, and code review processes
• Communicate progress and technical challenges effectively within a remote team

Skills And Requirements

• Proven experience with Unity 3D and C# in a professional game development context
• Strong background in multiplayer networking, including authoritative server models and client synchronization
• Demonstrated ability to optimize performance for large-scale multiplayer environments
• Solid understanding of game engine architecture and software engineering principles
• Experience with profiling, debugging, and resolving network and performance issues
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows is a plus
• Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a fully remote, flexible contract setting
• Open to both short-term and long-term collaboration
