Job Description
Role Summary:
The Electrical Engineer (Design) is responsible for developing and releasing system designs, electrical schematics, component lists and PLC programs for aircraft refueling vehicles, fuel handling systems, and pressure vessel-based equipment, ensuring compliance with NEC, IEC, NFPA 407, GCAA/ICAO standards, and internal engineering requirements.
Role Responsibilities:
- Design and development: Create and develop electrical schematics, diagrams, and layouts for refuelling equipment and systems using software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Draftsight.
- Technical analysis: Perform detailed calculations, conduct simulations, and perform feasibility studies and build prototypes to ensure designs are effective and meet performance requirements.
- Material selection: Research and select appropriate electrical components, materials, and equipment for projects.
- Compliance and standards: Ensure all designs and systems adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and codes like the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Technical support: Provide technical support to project managers, technicians, and manufacturing teams throughout the project lifecycle. Support customers with designs for new projects and fault diagnosis of previously supplied product.
- Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and purchase orders.
- Cost management: Assist in budget preparation by estimating material, labor, and construction costs for projects.
- Project collaboration: Collaborate with other engineers and departments to meet project deadlines and objectives
Educational Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required.
- A Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.
Experience:
- Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software is essential.
- Experience in a similar industry is desirable.
Behavioral Skills:
- Physical stamina, good hand-eye coordination, and strength for tasks like lifting heavy materials.
- Comfort working at heights or in confined spaces.
- Strong attention to detail and good colour perception.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar design software
- Knowledge of PLC programming and control systems
- Familiarity with hazardous area classification (ATEX/IECEx) for fuel handling equipment
- Strong understanding of aviation fuel systems and safety interlocks
