Smyth Industries is currently searching for an individual with Water Infrastructure Industry experience as an Electrical Instrumentation and Controls Designer to help enhance our current team. We provide full-service electrical, civil, manufacturing, engineering and general contracting services for the water and reclamation industry.

In your job, you will have the ability to make a difference in the water and reclamation industry by:

Scope: Works collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, and Senior Designers to deliver high‑quality design and drafting support for engineering consulting, manufacturing, and construction projects within the water and reclamation industry. Contributes to the development and execution of projects focused on the rehabilitation, fabrication, and construction of electrical, instrumentation and control components of water/wastewater distribution and treatment infrastructure. Consistently upholds Smyth Industries’ Policies and Procedures, supports Safety Compliance requirements, and exemplifies the company’s core Values while producing accurate and timely design work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Projects:Possess knowledge of Electrical engineering design software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, Plant3D) to produce detailed 2D/3D designs for water infrastructure power distribution, wiring, raceways, control systems, instrumentation, and other EI\&C components \| Maintain up‑to‑date understanding of software, standards, and requirements for EI\&C water \& reclamation infrastructure \| Demonstrate expertise with 2D/3D EI\&C drawings and details \| Provide design support across multiple consulting, manufacturing, and construction projects simultaneously \| Apply strong CAD design principles and technical drafting skills \| Develop draft engineering work products with senior staff input; incorporate engineering corrections and revisions \| Review design layouts to identify and resolve conflicts across disciplines and project elements \| Maintain organized project documentation for all CAD‑related design components \| Collaborate with project teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget. People:Participate in professional and technical training opportunities \| Work collaboratively across all departments; role does not include direct‑report management. BD/Marketing:Build and maintain positive relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal leadership through effective project delivery \| Serve as a brand ambassador for a company committed to diversity and inclusion. Minimum Qualifications:

Up to three (3) years of relevant CAD design and drafting experience supporting engineering projects \| Associate degree or CAD certificate, or equivalent experience \| Ability to manage multiple projects varying in size and complexity \| Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written \| Skilled in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook) \| Required to possess a valid driver's license and legally be able to operate a company vehicle \| Valid driver's license, pass MVR and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the water and wastewater or reclamation industry \| Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Plant 3D, and/or control panel design software (ePlan, D2M, etc) \| Experience producing EI\&C construction and fabrication drawings \| Familiarity with the current NEC Code, UL508A design requirements, CAD standards, design best practices, and engineering markups.
