Job Description
- Engineer – Audits \& Compliance (Dairy \& Food)
- Hamilton, Waikato \| Full Time \| Hybrid Working
We’re looking for a detail-focused and analytical Engineer to join our growing team in Hamilton. This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll deliver high-quality audits, inspections, and evaluations across dairy and non-dairy operations.
You’ll play a key role in verifying compliance with MPI regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements — providing accurate reporting and trusted technical expertise.
About the role
In this role, you will:
- Conduct audits and heat treatment inspections to ensure compliance with MPI Acts, Regulations, Standards, and importing country requirements
- Evaluate operator premises and heat treatments under MPI Recognised Person approvals
- Complete accurate audit reports and follow up on non-conformances
- Maintain and develop technical expertise through training, skill checks, and industry forums
- Build strong relationships with customers, regulators, and internal teams
- Support project planning, client management, and contract reviews
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and uphold health \& safety standards
- Manage time and expense records and support special projects as required
About you
You’re a confident and analytical professional who enjoys working both independently and collaboratively. You bring strong technical knowledge and a high level of attention to detail.
You will also have:
- Experience in dairy, food processing, or manufacturing environments
- 5\+ years of relevant industry or auditing experience
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and quality systems (Advanced HACCP awareness desirable)
- Excellent written communication and data analysis skills (advanced Excel skills essential)
- A relevant tertiary qualification (BE, BTech), Dairy Diploma, or MSc in Dairy Science (advantageous)
- The ability to interpret complex technical and regulatory information with confidence
