Job Description

Infrastructure Engineering Manager

Permanent, full time

Melbourne, hybrid (1 in office per week)

$200,000 \+ Super \+ Profit Share

The Opportunity

Our client is one of Australia's most recognised global product houses, operating across multiple international markets. Their Infrastructure team sits at the core of the business, stewarding the foundational platform that lets engineers ship securely and reliably across a hybrid, containerised environment built predominantly on AWS ECS and EKS.

You'll lead a senior, established team of engineers working across at a pivotal point in the company's growth and restructure. This is a genuinely hands on leadership role, expect to spend 30 to 40 per cent of your time still writing code and shaping architecture, not just running ceremonies. You'll also help shape a new Security Engineering function as it moves into the Engineering org, and play a central role in a major multi year platform migration.

What You'll Be Doing

Leading delivery for the Infrastructure team, including planning, work breakdown, engineering rituals, unblocking and managing dependencies. Owning your domain's architecture and technical direction while staying genuinely hands on rather than purely delegating. Coaching and developing a team of Senior and Lead engineers, providing regular actionable feedback and career support. Partnering with engineering leadership and stakeholders across time zones to align roadmaps and land cross team initiatives. Growing the team from three engineers to five or six over the coming months as the Infrastructure function scales.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong hands on experience running containerised systems on AWS, specifically EKS and ECS, covering networking, security and scaling
  • Deep proficiency in DevOps practice and tooling, particularly Terraform, Helm, CI/CD pipelines and observability
  • Seven or more years managing engineering teams, ideally in a product or platform environment
  • A track record leading teams through complex delivery, including agile practice, dependency management and cross team coordination
  • The communication, discipline and async judgement to lead effectively across global time zones

Helpful, But Not Essential

  • Experience using AI tooling in your day to day workflow, with curiosity about applying it more deeply
  • Exposure to search, discovery or marketplace platforms
  • Experience helping stand up or shape a Security Engineering function
  • Background operating in a business going through significant restructure or scale
