About the Role
Our client is seeking a hands-on
Engineering Manager
to lead the development of their
real-time Risk and Fraud Detection Platform
. This is a mission-critical role, as the team’s work directly safeguards the company’s financial stability.
The Engineering Manager will oversee a talented team of engineers while also contributing directly to technical execution, focusing on high-availability, real-time risk systems. The role balances strategic oversight with hands-on contribution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership:
Architect and develop high-priority features for the fraud detection platform, including real-time monitoring, rule engines, and ML model deployment pipelines.
- Metric-Driven Ownership:
Translate business goals (e.g., reducing fraud loss, lowering false positives) into measurable engineering objectives and ensure delivery.
- Platform Scaling \& Resilience:
Design and scale low-latency, high-throughput systems critical for real-time risk assessment, ensuring availability and resilience.
- Team Development:
Mentor engineers, manage performance, and foster a culture of rigorous code quality, transparency, and continuous learning.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Risk Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Operations to execute technical strategy aligned with business goals.
- Process Optimization:
Improve agile workflows, development cycles, and incident response strategies for high-stakes fraud systems.
Required Experience \& Skills:
- Domain Expertise:
3\+ years building, deploying, and maintaining high-throughput Risk, Fraud, or Trust \& Safety systems, preferably in fintech or payments.
- Technical Fluency:
Proven experience as a senior software engineer, capable of coaching engineers on resilient, real-time, data-intensive systems.
- Management Experience:
1\+ year managing engineering teams, inspiring high-quality, high-velocity execution.
- Ownership Mindset:
Able to make impactful decisions in ambiguous environments and take accountability for business outcomes.
- Communication Skills:
Able to convey complex technical trade-offs clearly to peers, product teams, and executives.
- Adaptability:
Familiarity with Python, Flask, REST APIs, and cloud services is a plus, but willingness to quickly learn is essential.
