Job Description

Role Overview

Ridgewood Public Schools is seeking an ESL instructor in an elementary setting for the 2026-2027 school year. The selected candidate will provide English language development instruction to Multilingual Learners and demonstrate flexibility in delivering services across a variety of instructional settings, which may include pull-out small group instruction and push-in support within the general education classroom. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Multilingual Learners, demonstrate skill in differentiated instruction to support language development and academic achievement, possess strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, demonstrate culturally responsive instructional practices, and show a commitment to ongoing professional growth.

The Selected Candidate Will Be Responsible For

  • Providing direct English language development instruction to multilingual learners in alignment with WIDA English Language Development Standards and the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
  • Serving as a resource to staff regarding effective instructional strategies for multilingual learners and culturally responsive practices.
  • Monitoring student progress and using multiple data sources to inform instruction and program decisions.
  • Assisting with ESL program entry, progress monitoring, and exit procedures in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Collaborating with families to promote student success.
  • Performing other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as assigned.

**Working Conditions**

  • Location: Ridgewood Public Schools, Elementary Level
  • Full-time, permanent position, medical benefits and pension. Salary range is $70,062-$129,882, commensurate with education and experience as per negotiated contract.
  • Start Date and End Date: August 26, 2026 (plus 3 days of New Teacher Orientation) - June 30, 2027\.

  • NJ Teacher of English as a Second Language Certification
  • Experience working with Multilingual Learners, preferred
  • Must demonstrate ability to differentiate instruction
  • Must have ability to use technology to enhance learning and assess students
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with teachers, parents, and administrators both verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and maintain harmonious relationships with students, colleagues, and parent(s)/guardian(s)
