Specializing in acquiring, operating, and growing properties that are mission-critical in their respective environments, Valnet is at the forefront of media investment. With over 25 websites and 36 YouTube channels, Valnet’s notable acquisitions include, ScreenRant, CBR, GameRant, CarBuzz, How-to Geek, MakeUseOf, Android Police and more.
The Opportunity:
Military.com, Fastweb.com, and FinAid.org are trusted destinations serving millions of military members, veterans, students, and families navigating major financial decisions. We generate revenue by connecting our audiences with best-in-class offers across mortgage, credit cards, personal loans, and insurance. To reach our audience, organic search is one of our most important distribution channels.
This role owns the strategy to grow organic traffic across all three properties and convert that traffic into leads. As LLM-powered interfaces (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) increasingly mediate how consumers research financial products, we need someone who can operate at the intersection of traditional SEO and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) — ensuring our content ranks, gets cited by AI, and drives audiences to the offers we serve. Getting this right is critical to the business.
What You Will Be Doing:
Search \& LLM Visibility
- Own optimization strategies across traditional search and LLM-driven surfaces: Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Bing Copilot. Target high-intent financial queries across mortgage, credit cards, personal loans, and insurance on all three properties.
- Build and maintain a GEO framework to monitor and improve how Military.com, Fastweb, and FinAid content is cited and surfaced in AI-generated financial responses.
- Develop content and entity strategies that improve LLM citation frequency through structured formats, authoritative sourcing, and clear data presentation.
Technical SEO
- Run regular audits across all three properties and translate findings into prioritized engineering proposals covering crawlability, indexation, site architecture, and page speed.
- Advance structured data coverage with emphasis on financial content schema (FinancialProduct, LoanOrCredit, InsuranceAgency, FAQPage) that serves both search engines and LLMs.
- Manage llms.txt implementation and stay ahead of emerging standards governing AI crawler interaction with financial content.
Content \& Editorial
- Collaborate with editorial team to drive the content strategy and best practices for SEO and GEO
- Provide SEO input on the formats that drive lead generation: rate tables, product comparison pages, offer landing pages, calculators, and editorial explainers.
- Develop guides, playbooks, and tooling that scale best practices across high-volume financial content production.
Analytics \& Performance
- Monitor organic performance via GA4, Search Console, Ahrefs, and SEMrush across Military.com, Fastweb, and Finaid
- Build reporting that connects organic traffic to lead generation outcomes. Track not just rankings and clicks, but downstream conversion metrics that reflect actual business impact.
- Build reporting to track LLM visibility metrics: share of voice in AI responses, citation frequency, and prompt monitoring across key product queries.
What You Need to Succeed:
- 3\+ years of SEO experience, preferably in financial services, fintech, lead generation, or a similarly competitive content vertical
- Hands-on familiarity with GEO concepts and how LLMs ingest, rank, and cite web content
- Strong grasp of E-E-A-T principles and their practical application in financial publishing
- Proficiency with and reporting and market intelligence tools such as GA4, Search Console, GTM, Ahrefs, SEMrush
- Experience with LLM visibility tools (Profound, Otterly, or equivalent) or ability to build prompt-based monitoring workflows
- Solid Schema/structured data knowledge, including financial product markup types
- Ability to read HTML and basic JavaScript; comfort with server log analysis
- Strong analytical skills; Excel/Google Sheets required, SQL or Python a plus
- Working knowledge of compliance and disclosure considerations in financial content
- Cross-functional collaborator comfortable working with editorial, compliance, product, and engineering teams
