Job Summary
The Lead Copywriter is the primary copywriter working directly with Creative Leadership Team (CLT) and stakeholders and managing high complexity briefs that are at a campaign level involving multiple channels like email, display, social, audio, search, push/SMS etc. They collaborate closely with Designers and Producers to maintain timelines and propose recommendations based on the business briefs.
The lead works independently on jobs that are both cross functional and complex. Typically, they work on projects with high accountability and are categorized are tier projects (high complexity, visibility and impact). They have deep expertise and experience across multiple channels for digital and print. They are strong creative thinkers and brilliant presenters, having the ability to influence the audience.
The lead is expected to be an SME on all channels, it requires them to bring process and production efficiency and evolve the quality while being consistent to the brand standard. They are the problem solvers and proactively provide fresh solutions to solve for business briefs with minimal supervision. This role is responsible for being up to date on all media channel formats, standards as well as trends. The lead should have a customer centric mind-set and the ability to back copy decisions with performance insights and data. They develop a range of options to meet the needs of the business and resonates with the customer based on research and insights.
Additionally, the lead copywriter performs quality checks and provides work direction to the copy team working on the project they lead.
Roles \& Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Expertise in handling campaign level project execution.
- Understanding of the customer journey and basing creative solutions on that.
- Ability to understand creative performance data and connect the dots in building strong creative solutions that resonate with the customers.
- Lead high complexity projects that require multiple stakeholders buy-ins like campaign style guides, brand identities, platform testing etc.
- Creative direction and review skillset on channel creatives for email, digital display, social, search.
- On a daily basis, the Lead Copywriter carries a workload of conceptual and tactical copywriting requests.
- In addition, the Lead Copywriter is a professional mentor for Copywriters and helps to review work for consistency. Feedback and advice are provided.
- On a regular basis, they collaborate with copywriters, designers, CLT and marketing stakeholders to develop cohesive brand communications.
- High quality of work in terms of layout, hygiene, type and on time delivery.
- High ownership and accountability.
- Leading campaign level creatives.
- Developing copy systems to guide the team and keep the production efficiency high while maintaining brand language consistency.
- Confidently present concepts and brilliant storytellers, able to defend the work and “sell their idea.
- Strong design thinkers and proactive team players.
- Project management skillset and ability to navigate between multiple projects. Supporting the manager in allocating resources based on the briefs.
Years Of Experience
- 6-8 years in an advertising agency or retail organization.
Education Qualification \& Certifications (optional)
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors or master's in marketing, Communication, Journalism, English
Skill Set Required
Primary Skills (must have)
- General office programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Candidate should have effective project management skills; oral and written communication skills; and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience working with US retailers and understanding the cultural nuances is required for this role.
- Experience at retail brand in-house creative department/ design house/ marketing agency.
