Our mission is to use robotics to enable incredible variety and culinary authenticity. By reimagining the kitchen environment, we improve the daily experience of our team members and ensure every customer receives a perfect meal, every time.

About The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly driven Mechanical Engineer to join our hardware team and help build the future of food. You will be responsible for the design, prototyping, and validation of mechanical components for our next-generation food automation products. Reporting to the lead mechanical engineer of the project, this role is ideal for someone looking for a blend of fast paced prototyping and high quality, production ready design. We’re looking for someone who’s extremely motivated to see their ideas transform from the computer screen to the restaurant, and is eager to own every step along the way.

**The Impact You Will Make**

  • Own the design of parts and subassemblies for our automated food equipment. From concept to production and everything in between.
  • Create and update 3D and 2D design files for parts and assemblies, drawing on your previous experience as well as our internal best practices to ensure robust, high quality designs.
  • Make detailed documentation describing the history and key design decisions of parts and assemblies.
  • Order, assemble, and test prototypes. Work closely with Hardware Test Engineers to validate performance and reliability.
  • Work with and manage 3rd party vendors to identify custom and off the shelf parts, sensors, etc. Strong desire to hold vendors accountable, drive timelines, call them on the phone when they’re unresponsive, etc.
  • Maintain a strong sense of overall accountability to see your projects through their successful completion on very tight timelines. You know the prototyping process can be stressful and unpredictable and you take pride in solving the setbacks.

**What You Bring to the Table**

  • 3\+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within industrial automation or robotics.
  • Extremely comfortable designing with Solidworks or an equivalent CAD software.
  • Familiarity working within a PDM and PLM environment.
  • Experience designing parts for CNC, sheet metal, and/or injection molding.
  • Familiarity with standard industrial components like actuators, sensors, and fasteners.
  • Experience creating high quality 2D drawings to facilitate the production of those parts. Confident using GD\+T and/or other dimensioning/tolerancing schemes to properly control part drawings to ensure production parts function as designed.
  • Comfortable with prototyping tools such as mill, lathe, laser cutter, 3d printer, shop hand tools
  • Previous experience in an industrial automation or food manufacturing space is highly desired

This role requires a minimum of 4 days a week in the office, with additional days as needed based on project demands.

This role is based in our Boston office in Charlestown, MA

Massachusetts: $124,000-139,500 per year.
