Sr. Manager of Machine Learning / AI

Swoon is actively seeking a Machine Learning/AI Manager to join the team!

What your day-to-day will look like?

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of production-grade AI and Machine learning systems, including LLM-powered applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and real-world impact.
• Architect and oversee retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and agentic AI systems that generate, analyze, and reason over complex legal documents and workflows.
• Manage and mentor a team of Data Scientists and ML Engineers including managers, driving technical excellence, career development, and high-performing team outcomes.
• Remain hands-on with coding and system design, including reviewing pull requests, contributing to architecture decisions, and guiding implementation of AI solutions.
• Work with with Product, Engineering, SMEs, and executive leadership to translate business needs into AI-driven solutions and communicate progress effectively.
• Define and execute the AI/ML strategy and roadmap, aligning emerging technologies with business objectives and customer value.
• Establish best practices for model evaluation, observability, governance, and responsible AI, ensuring compliant, auditable, and high-quality outputs in production environments.

What’s Required? / Technical Skills

• Hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-powered applications, including agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain) and prompt orchestration pipelines
• Strong expertise in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and working with vector databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, Weaviate, Qdrant)
• Proficiency in Python and modern ML/AI tooling (HuggingFace, OpenAI APIs, prompt tuning, model evaluation techniques)
• Experience designing and maintaining production-grade ML systems, including model serving, monitoring, and CI/CD in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Solid understanding of containerization and infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes) with the ability to support scalable, distributed AI systems
