Job Description
StaffBright is partnering with a manufacturing organization to bring on an Engineering Director to lead engineering operations, product development, and project execution. This position will oversee a team of Tool Engineers and Project Engineers while driving innovation, supporting manufacturing initiatives, and ensuring engineering projects are completed efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate will bring a strong automotive background, proven leadership experience, and the ability to balance technical expertise with team development and strategic execution.
Please Note:
Only candidates with automotive manufacturing engineering experience will be considered. This role is focused on mechanical engineering, tool design, and product development—not IT, software, network, systems, or technology engineering.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead, direct, and coordinate engineering activities across product development, tooling, and manufacturing projects.
- Manage and develop a team of six direct reports, including Tool Engineers and Project Engineers.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of new products, processes, and engineering solutions.
- Drive research and development initiatives that support innovation and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate engineering processes and ensure projects meet quality, cost, and timing objectives.
- Identify training and development opportunities to strengthen team capabilities and succession planning.
- Recruit, hire, and build high-performing engineering teams as business needs evolve.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and clear direction to engineering personnel.
- Review engineering work for accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with project requirements.
- Partner with operations, manufacturing, and leadership teams to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
- Present engineering initiatives and gain support from executive leadership and key stakeholders.
- Coordinate activities across departments to ensure successful project execution and product launches.
What We Need From You
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering strongly preferred.
- 5\+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager or in a similar engineering leadership role.
- 7\+ years of supervisory experience leading engineering teams.
- Minimum of 5 years of automotive industry experience, including automotive experience within the last two years.
- Strong understanding of tool design and manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience leading engineering projects from concept through production.
- Demonstrated ability to develop teams, manage priorities, and drive results.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, manufacturing, and executive leadership teams.
- Experience with AutoCAD Inventor preferred.
- Manufacturing experience, in addition to automotive industry experience, is a plus.
