Required Skills, Experience, \& Abilities

  • 7\+ years of experience in a shoot- and set-heavy environment, ideally within e-commerce, fashion, beauty, or lifestyle.
  • Proven experience art directing photography on set, with confidence in making decisive creative calls.
  • Exceptional eye for light, composition, proportion, and styling, with a refined, modern aesthetic.
  • Ability to balance simplicity with inspired ideas, knowing when restraint creates the strongest impact.
  • Strong understanding of PDP and digital photography best practices, with a sharp instinct for what performs online.
  • Comfortable working within tight timelines, high volume, and real-world constraints without compromising creative quality.
  • Highly collaborative, clear in communication, and energized by building something new.

Role

Our client is undergoing an exciting digital brand transformation, and we’re seeking a Photo Art Director to play a pivotal role in the evolution of our PDP photography. This is a rare opportunity for a creative leader who thrives on set, has impeccable taste, and knows how to balance inspired creative vision with operational rigor. At the intersection of art direction, photography, and digital commerce, this role will lead the overhaul of PDP photo content, executing a new visual standard that blends whimsy and sophistication while meeting the realities of speed, scale, and consistency.

  • You’ll help define how our products show up across the digital experience, ensuring every image feels intentional, refined, and clearly on brand.
  • This role will report to the AVP of Digital Creative and is ideal for a true digital native with deep on-set experience, a fashion or beauty sensibility, and a collaborative mindset: someone who can confidently direct shoots while working hand-in-hand with creative leadership and production partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead photo art direction for PDP photography, overseeing a full reimagining of product imagery across a large breadth of collections and SKUs.
  • Own shot list development and on-set direction, translating a new brand vision into clear, executable photography.
  • Create collection-specific art direction while adhering to a tight style guide and established operational standards.
  • Direct and oversee photo shoots from pre-production through capture, ensuring excellence in lighting, composition, styling, and framing.
  • Partner closely with the AVP of Digital Creative to bring elevated yet pragmatic creative concepts to life.
  • Work deeply with the Production Team to deliver high-quality imagery at speed, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Be physically present on set for the majority of the contract, providing hands-on direction and real-time decision-making.
  • Operate comfortably in a fast-paced, agile environment, adapting quickly while maintaining a consistent creative bar.
  • Champion collaboration across photographers, stylists, producers, editors, and cross-functional partners.
